Default AE-2 Set-Up help.

Recieved a new AE-2 ESC and cannot get it to program. All I get are rapid-flashing green light and solid red. I'm following axials instructions here-

Axial AE-2 ESC Set-up and Programming

Trim neutral- AX-3 T/X. Did the reversing-switch, no help. Steering works.
I am not using a Li-Po at this time
.
This is not a new-build. It's my sons running Honcho that had an AE-1 in it, and we want to go to LiPos.

Does it start to go into calibration or not?

The only thing I can think of is if you TX has throttle end points make sure they are maxed out, other than that it is a very straight forward process and hard to screw up.

You could try plugging it into the steering channel and see if that helps, again trim at 0 and end points maxed out.

No EPA on this transmitter for throttle.
"Does it start to go into calibration or not?"
It just goes ring-a-ling through the motor when I turn on the switch, at the inital turn-on, then all I get is silence with the green led flashing rapidly and the red solid.
I re-installed the AE-1 just to check and it works fine.

Is the esc cable plugged into the receiver backwards?

No.
This is my 2nd AE-2. I've got another one in my Tundra and have programmed it with no problems. But it was with a different radio ,GT-3.

O.K this is wierd..... If I cycle the steering 20 times or so , sometimes it will go into programming mode, acknowlege full throttle, go to red, acknowledge reverse, give me done beeps and go silent. Then when I touch the throttle, nothing, the green starts flashing.. and this is with it plugged in properly.

It's already bound. If I re-install the AE-1 everythings fine. Wonder if I need to re-bind it?? That would'nt make much sense tho....

when i switched over to the mmp, my radio lost it's bind. that's why i asked. anyway, are you running lipo? if not, did you turn off the auto lipo cutoff on the esc? could be that the voltage is to low and the auto lipo cutoff is kicking in. another thing i had to do was get about 5 feet away from the rig and have my daughter turn it on while i held the transmitter. for some reason if i tried to do it myself it wouldn't go into cal mode. transmitter to close i guess.

Not running a Li-Po. I cannot turn-off the LVC, I have no Castle-Link. You can turn it off manually but the ESC has to be programmed first to access the function. I am standing close tho. I'll give that a try.
But why it will kick-in to program-mode when I cycle the steering is plain strange..

Weird but good to know the solution to your problem. I am getting my first AE-2 ESC for my new Axial Wraith kit soon and that tip will come in handy if I have similar issues. I am very new to all this RC Crawling and look forward to my first Axial build.
