Default Will It EXPLODE???

I use Turnigy 1300mah 4s batteries in my LCC and I've noticed that when I charge a couple of them that my Triton EQ will put in more than 1300mah. Not way more, the charger reads 1305 and 1313 the last 2 times. Will that damage my batteries and if so what should I do to prevent damage?

Likely not an issue...sometimes you just get a decent set of cells.

Does your ESC have an adjustable LVC, it's possible you are slightly overdischarging them. You may want to double check it.

nice choice on the charger I use the same one, they are likely under rated cells, (better then advertised on the casing) I have a couple 1600mah packs (hobby king packs even) that awlways take more then 1600mah when fully discharged (my LVC is set to 3.3v)

nothing wrong with what you are doing. aslong as your not over discharging, or overcharging.

no problem i had a bunch of maxamps 6000 2spacks from years ago that would take 6800 every charge when i drained them to cutoff, those were killer batterys

Yup they others are right mate. Nothing to worry about, Turnigy is known for under rating the Mah of their lipos. Every Turinigy i have takes more that stated capacity at charge (FYI my lipo it set a 3.4-3.6v/cell)

I get the same thing with my 3s 1300mah cbp batteries while using the triton eq as well. I have seen up to 1380 mah charged in when drained to my 3 volts per cell lvc. As stated above, as long as u don't go above 4.2 Volts per cell or under 3 Volts per cell, you should have no problems. All the mah really stands for is how many milla amps an hour it can discharge. so if u have a battery rated at 1300 mah, u could discharge at 13 milla amps for 100 hours , 130 milli amps for 10 hours, and so on. The more milla amp and hour packed into a battery, the longer the run time.

You most likely had some extra battery "juice" still left in the battery.

Part 2

So I got new batteries from maxamps and they said in reference to charging,

"Example: If balance charging a 4000mah Lipo pack at 1C, you would be charging it at 4 Amps.
Example: If balance charging a 4000mah Lipo pack at 5C, you would be charging it at 20 Amps."

I have never heard this before (I was wondering how to adjust my charging C on my triton jr.) so I tried it. The first charge was fine. On the second charge at just over 2C the charger put in 437mah on a 430mah pack. I had to leave so I unplugged it. Seeing this was only the second time I kicked the charging C I wanted to make sure everything is ok.

BTW-I am very impressed with maxamps batteries and the warranty, they even sent me a thank you card.

these will be totally ok. All my batteries gradually take more mah per charge for the first few charges as they get "loosened up" . I've seen an average of 100 to 300 mah over the packs stated mah, makes me happy to know I get more run time.

I say if you're overly concerned stay at 1c charge rate. I feel it's better for the overall life of the batteries anyway (I'm no expert), unless you are in a hurry to charge and run there is no need for 2c and I've seen better run times on all my batts at 1c vs 2c also. I run mostly Turnigy, and Blue

+1.

I stick to "1C" charge rates, thus a 4000mah pack gets charged @ 4 amps.
Charging at "1C" means a pack can go from "dead" to "fully charged" in ~1 hour.
Balancing can take longer.

While some packs state a higher charge rate, most is "BS" in my book. Use "1C" and you should get max life out of a pack.

Since I charge multiple packs for multiple people with multiple rigs, I start a day ahead to get the basic charge done in time.
Then, I do a "final charge" just prior to use and have not had issues.
