Default Recommendations for 3S lipo Please

Just curious what type/size of 3S you guys would use for an AX10 with AR60's and powered by a FXR with a 45T motor? Its a sportsman type rig so ESC and steering will be about it for what I would be powering up. I'm in the midst of fabbing a servo/battery tray for the front axle so size is pretty important. The smaller footprint the better. Ive used any brand of 2S I could find for my SCX but wanted to get a decent quality setup going for this build.

^Yes. Why?^. I like the idea of the 13oomah as I believe there would be enough juice for me to get thru an average 8-10 gate course which is pretty typical around the area. The 2200mah I think is way too long and I wont be able to mount it on the front plate with the servo.

I run 850mah 3S LiPO's in a MOA (2 35T motors) and get enough to do a comp course and then some.
For a single higher turn rig (like yours) you should be fine with ~500mah for a single course.

As the mah goes down, you NEED to up the "C" rating. My 850mah packs are 65C, if the "C" is low along with the mah, you will take a hit in "punch".

I run Elite LiPO's for larger packs, ThunderPower for smaller packs.

Nano-Techs seem to be a great pack with a low price.

Quite a few run Gens-Ace, but I haven't tried them, so no experience.

In a sporty a 1300 should get you through 3-4 courses. Buy 2 then run one on three courses then one on the other 2.

Great way to explain it as the C rating was gonna be my next ? My only concern was running a 850 pack and running out of juice part way thru the course. If your doin MOA with 2x the motor I will prob b fine running such a small pack and the sizes are about perfect for my app.

Something like this?:
Thunder Power 850mAh 3S 11 1v G6 P65C LiPo T Rex 250 SE Pro | eBay

That's the battery I use on my ax-10.. Well I have two that are identical to that only 45c rated.. They all work great.. I get about 30-40 minutes of crawling out of them with a 55T motor.

Lots of good info here.. I run nano tech batteries for comps, I run a 450mah 3s in my xr for an easy 12mins of crawling.. I can get an easy 30+ mins out of a 850mah 3s.. I buy in 3's.. figure a battery pre course or aa stated above.. run a battery, 850, for a couple courses, another one for the last course.. or if you do 5 courses, 2-2-1 course per 850...
Aa for worrin bout running out of juice in a course.. get a digital voltage meter.. from 4$-12$ on €Bay.. then youll know in advance before you start the course, if you need a fresh battery or not.. just a thought.. I know um glad I gave one.

Bad spelling from phone..

X2, I have had great success the Sky lipos like mentioned above, but the 800 mah. I am able to get 2 courses (plus some) out of them in a brushless Losi with 17.5 motor. You should be fine with a Sporty. I do the same with my piggy Berg - have not had the nads to try three courses in a comp, but I bet it would do it.

They are so cheap get a 1300 and see what runtime you get. Set up a course, and see how many times you can run it. I bet with a typical comp course you will be able to do it 4 times pretty easily. It could always turn into a practice pack. and run the 800s as comp packs. Even with the three packs you will only be out less than $20.

I mocked up the custom servo/battery plate when I got home compared with the dimensions of the 13oo and the 8oo. The corner of the 13oo seems it would rub on the corner when fully turned. The 8oo seems to have plenty of room for full steer with no "binding". I like to have spares so I think 3 8oomahs are on order along with 1/2 13oo's as option packs. Im gonna end up building other rigs so extra batterys wont be extras for too long. Thanx for all the great info, help, and opinions from everyone.
