Default ESC Fried?

A buddy at work just finished his tlt-10, thanks to this site. He bought a duratrax ESC (intellispeed?). It was A cheaper one with reverse. When he first took it out on the rocks the truck would hold itelf still on an incline like the brake was applied even if the radio was in neutral. After about 2 battery packs, not in same day, the truck now rolls on an incline. The throttle trim is set to full brake and it still rolls on an incline. I told him that I thought the ESC was fried. TELL ME I"M WRONG PLS.

i use the duratrax 8t its cheaper than a roster but uyou get the same power but you have to use a reciver batt if you have a strong servo or more than one

I think the ESC is fine. The motor is probably more broken in and runs smoother than it did originally ;)

so if everything is fine and it's just the motor is smoother, the truck runs fine as far as i know, then how would you compensate for this? surely yall dont have this problem would'nt it be better to have the holdiong power on an incline?

So does the Super Rooster have good holding power on an incline?

Those speed controls suck...there's just no way around it. I had one in El Mule and it was horrible the entire time I had it. It overheated with a 22t (16t limmit) and the BEC is just crappy

I'm like Dave, my guess is the motor just got broke in. What's the gearing on that truck and what motor? Sounds like you just dont have enough gear reduction for the motor your useing to keep it held in place.

Ok, Im stating to understand a little more. This is the motor http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGE34 and the gearing is stock, what ever that is. I will see him in a couple hours at work so i will print this for him to read.

so is this normal for crawlers to roll down an incline even if it is not that steep or would a higher end ESC work better

No ESC that I have run holds on the brakes at idle, so I'd say no. My crawler will run down hills if I leave it there. I have lathe motors which take a lot of force to turn, so it probably does a bit better than yours though.
