servo issues basically i tried to reverse the wires on my servo for reverse steering..... i get that all finished up and go to put the gears in and all the servo wants to do is go to one side and lock there when powered up. any ideas or suggestions would be great !!! really hoping i didnt turn my savox 0251 sevo into a paper weight  thanks in advance "thumbsup" servo in question http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...pse661cac7.jpg http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps834fa29d.jpg http://i537.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps6a186778.jpg |
Re: servo issues To reverse a servo direction, you need to reverse the wires that feed power to the motor and reverse the two outer wires on the pot that is connected to the output shaft. If you are lucky, there will be wires going from the servo circuit board to the motor and to the pot. If you are unlucky, the motor and /or pot are soldered directly to the circuit board. This one shows the "lucky" servo. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...o/DSC_5012.jpg Swap the orange and brown wire positions on the motor terminals. That reverses the direction the motor will turn. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...o/DSC_5015.jpg This shows the back of the pot with the red, yellow and green wires. The red and green wires need to swap positions. Seal it back up and you are finished! But, what if you have the kind of servo with the motor soldered directly to the circuit board? This is a picture of such a servo (borrowed from my winch controller thread): http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...e/DSC_2170.jpg I would suggest that you only do this modification if you have experience reworking circuit boards. I won't leave detailed instructions of what to do because you will already know what to do if you are experienced, and the information about the other type of servo is enough to get you going. Hope that helps. Let me know if I can make anything easier to understand. |
Re: servo issues i did all that.... that's not the issue...... its when im trying to put the last gear in (as pictured) the servo will not stay centered |
Re: servo issues Swap the two outer wires on the pot. That's what it sounds like to me. The servo amp sees a position error and it powers the motor in the direction it figures will minimize the error, except in this case it is turning it the wrong way so it sees a larger error and keeps trying to turn further but will never get there. |
Re: servo issues gave up and put it back together lol ill probably just order one of your servo reverse's if they are still avail |
Re: servo issues Don't give up yet! Post a pic of the bottom side of the servo like the ones I showed. |
Re: servo issues i got it !!!!! lol there was a small piece of solder that i over looked and it was cause the short got it all sorted now..... thank you very much for your help |

Congrats on fixing it! "thumbsup" |
Thank you for your help ! I appreciate it |

Good luck if you decide to do it ! I think if I try it again I will use a small soldering tip |
