| E-Moli Li-ion (Milwaukee V28) Battery cells
Brian (Rockpiledriver) turned me on to these and while I haven't had time to test mine, he has and is pleased. There are also alot of Heli and MT guys that are using these with good success. If you aren't aware, Li-ion cells are not the same as the more commonly used Li-poly cells. Li-ion are not nearly as volatile nor explosive as the polymer. The drill batteries are pretty hard to find in any store yet but you can find them pretty easily on ebay. They come with 7 cells so you can make 3 8.4v packs with 1 drill battery. They charge the same way li-po packs do as well but if you're just diving in, I really suggest picking up a Duratrax ICE or Astroflight 109 charger. They are the best lithium chargers on the market IMO. Specs: Cell Type - IMR26700 Manganese Size - 26.4mm diameter; 70mm length Weight - 100g (3.512 oz.) Capacity - 3000mAh Standard Operating Voltage - 4.2V Energy Density - 285Wh/l Power Density - 1500W/kg at 20 seconds Deconstruction of the drill pack. http://www.swift-tuning.com/emoli.pd...moli%20cell%22 |

I have heard nothing but good things about these cells, except that they are heavier as compared to a lipoly cell per watt/hour. I havent had a chance to test them myself though.

One thing to remember, like a Lipo, if you discharge them too far it ruins the cell. They just don't explode. My kid made the mistake of leaving a pack connected to the esc for 2 days. It totally killed a $35 pack. And I almost totally killed him. | |
