| Hitec hs-7954sh corformal coating and circuit board removal?
I just got my new 7954 servo and decided to try my hand at conformal coating the board. I pulled out the 4 screws to expose the board and attempted to wiggle it free so I could coat the back of the board with an acrylic conformal coating as well as the front. I was working on removing it quite gently as I don't know what is attached from behind, I just worked a hobby knife along the edges of the case from the servo lead on both sides and was only able to get board free about half way around. What am I missing to be able to remove the board? Is it directly soldered to the motor or something that prevents removal? Have any of you waterproofed the 7954 before and care to share some tips? Thanks

HiTec solders the PCB to the motor. You have to undo the front housing too and pull off the gear set and then once you can see the motor pinion you can push on that and it will push the motor and PCB out the back far enough to get at it. Some good info here Has Anyone Successfully WPed a 7950TH? |

First off thanks for the prompt replies, so I pulled the front off and removed all the gears, but the motor pinion is shrouded about 2/3 the way around the gear and completely over the top with molded piece designed to retain one of the pins. I can barely get a 1/8" flat screwdriver in between the top of the pinion and the shroud and dont dare pry against the plastic, no surface to push against there. Any other ideas? |

Push....... Don't pry. Push like you never pushed before...... Motor is soldered directly to the board. If all on back is open the only thing is some goop holding the motor into the case center section. Don't pry board...... Don't pry motor. Push up through that hole against motor / gear to push it all out the back. All comes out as one unit.

I run a 7954 and all I did was put an o-ring behind the servo horn to seal it up. It's been submerged on more than one occasion without an issue.

Make it water resistant.... in other words, resist going anywhere near water. PROBLEM SOLVED |

Unless the hole the pin goes into, which covers the end of the motor pinion, goes completely through to the end of the shaft and I believe it is only a partial depth pocket to retain the pin. Maybe the 7954 and the 7950 are different on the gear end, more so than just titanium vs steel gears. Thanks again |
