Default Pulse racing lipo's

I was just wondering if anyone on here is running these pulse racing lipo's and any thoughts/feedback on then. Thanks

No. Go with something tested and proven for years like SMC or HobbyKing.

Any reason in particular? Our local hobby shop sells Pulse or venom lipo's that's why I was asking.

Pulse is a really good brand, but their batteries are more geared toward the air markets. I would recommend them over a HobbyKing battery if they have a battery in the form factor he is looking for.

Interesting. That's why I've never heard of them. Do you know the name of the parent company if they have one?

Pulse is kind of expensive considering they're soft case which I personally try to avoid in off road vehicles. If you can get them locally and cheaper then it might be worth it.

I'd personally still go with SMC or HobbyKing. I've had great luck with dozens of Turnigy and Zippy batteries from HobbyKing in a variety of shapes, sizes, and number of cells and in all forms of RC from racing to bashing to crawling.

I think they are independently/American owned. Their packs are typically cost a little bit more, but they are very well made.

Cool. Now hopefully they expand to hard cases.

Maybe this is a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway. Why would it matter that your lipo's were intended for flight and not surface Use? Four and a half years ago when I got out of rc we were all using e-flight 3s lipo's in our comp crawlers and never had any issues. Thanks guys I really don't know much about lipos.

Funny this topic popped up. I stopped by the LHS today and purchased a pulse lipo. Shop owner told me they are excellent lipos and decently priced. I paid 49.99 for a 4100mah 3s compared to 41.99 for a 3200mah 3s venom. I haven't charged it yet, but I plan to solder the connector tonight and run it tomorrow

A lot of surface packs come with a hard plastic case on them. Air packs do not. Also the biggest difference is form factor. Car packs are generally all the same width because it is the size of the Sub-C battery packs that used to be used in Nicd and Nimh batteries. Air packs tend to be different shapes because electric planes/helicopters were less common until Lipo batteries and brushless motors came out and there was a viable way to fly electric.

It wouldn't matter. As Robert stated, air LiPos typically do not have a hard case because they shed as much weight as possible in aircraft. And the size and shape might be different than what is standard for a ground RC.

The packs will still be made in china, Shenzhen ACEPOW Electronics Co. Ltd , by that mob

Call it any way ya want, but just about all lipos come from the same couple of factories

I've never used hard case lipo's, and much like planes I strive to make my crawlers as light as I can, think I'm going to try a couple and see how they work. Thanks for the help guys!

That's true. Lipos are like brushless motors, for the most part they are all made in china the difference is the quality control that is put in place. The factory may know that a good company will reject a pack or cell, so they'll put the good cells into the brand paying the most for the packs and put the cells that just pass tests in the brands that pay less for their packs.

The diehard heli guys at my LHS swear by Pulse. One guy was flying competitively and sponsored by Futaba and KDE. He's put hundreds of charges (sometimes 10 cycles a day) on big 12s packs charging at 5c (12 minute charge) and measured minimal internal resistance increase. I can't remember the mAh, but he can drain one in about 5 minutes or less of flying, if that tells you anything about the amp draw.

I have personally ran some of their smaller packs (1350 3s and 2250 3s) in my crawlers when space is tight because they are good, consistent quality for the money. They are not hard case, but they do have aluminum plates on either side to help protect them from impacts. The only downside I really see is lack of selection for cars. They have lots of small 3s and 4s packs that are great, but getting into bigger capacity packs, there isn't much to choose from. Still, I highly recommend them if they fit your build!

I got 2 the other day, a 450 (for mounting on axle) and a 1350, so far I think they are very good quality, and tough to beat the price!
