Question A couple brushless ?s

First off, is a z3025 too much motor for a 2.2 TLT? I would like to have both torque and a little wheel speed if that's possible. second, if this scenario works out, would an RC4WD R2 trans hold up with that motor?
Thanks

You could build a 2.2 Twin Force. I run that motor,it would rip the TLT axles to shreads

I'm wanting to stay with the scale-ish size of the TLT axles.

You'll need allot less motor then Mines rated at 2 horsepower and it'll sling a 20 pound truck around like it's nothing.

I couldn't make any battery suggestions, I'm new to this. I'm still in the early development stages.

I will be running the 3025 in a 2.2 rig with K1 axles, Portals, R2 tranny, 2s3p 3300 mah maxamp lipo, and mamba max esc

I will have a 3013 as a back-up incase the 3025 is to much

If it will turn a 20 lb. truck around I wonder what it will do to my BMVii

I will post picks and let everyone know how RC4WD stuff holds up

sticksNstones, do you have a thread for your build? That sounds like something I should definitely take a look at.

I think everything I would add has been covered. I would suggest the z3013 for a tlt, but a 3025 could be used. An inexperienced user could trash parts like nothing with the 3025.

The r2 looks really beefy. I think it should hold up to the z3025 on smaller axles. Good lubrication would be very important

jrh- thanks for chiming in. I was hoping to hear from you, as you are the expert. I don't see the mamba max on your site, are you just out of stock. I'd like to price a package deal for a motor and esc. Would a z3013 bee like a built small block versus a z3025 as a built big block? With the right gearing can I get low speed torque and then punch the throttle for some wheel speed?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the help and advise so far.

The 3025-8 would be more like a CTD with all the goodies

You can get a lot more wheelspeed with an outrunner and retain the torque for slower stuff, but there is a minimum speed that esc's can turn a non-sensored motor. Minimum speed for a mamba is about 200rpm on a 12 pole outrunner. Quark esc is about 80 rpm. You have to gear according to your driving style and voltage too.

Just installed the 3013 and went crawling, this motor works well. Cogging wasnt an issue and my lipo's seam to be up to par for the demand.I will try my 3 cell as I want a bit more wheel speed out of the r-2 trans.

Thanks JRH
