| Top brushless motor teardown comparison
I have a brand new castle sensored 1410 3800kv motor, a used puller pro 3500kv, and a used tekin roc412 3100kv. I tore them all down to compare them side by side. You can draw your own conclusions. Let's start with the tekin roc412 3100kv. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk Now the puller pro 3500kv Now the castle 1410 3800kv. Note I could not get the sensor board end off the can. I was afraid it was glued and did not want to destroy a brand new motor. The following images will go in order from tekin, Holmes, then castle. I scaled the housings with stator, but 2 motors had wires of different sizes soldered and the tekin had none. So Holmes has the heaviest rotor and beefier bearings. His stator also looks to be significantly larger. His can seems lightest, allowing more weight in copper to be measured. The rotors were all different sizes. The castles was longest and thinnest, while tekin was shortest and fattest. Holmes was right down the middle both ways. Tekin was lightest by a whopping 1 gram. There you have it. The bearings and stator push me towards the Holmes. I hated that I could not get the castle apart. How would I replace the bearings on the opposite end? If they go bad I guess I'll just have to risk it. Tell me what you guys think. Last edited by Motorider; 10-02-2017 at 11:31 AM. |

You caught the main jist of my goals. The most stator and magnet inside a small and light housing. I would add: specifically designed for 4x4 off road trucks needing low speed control AND lots of wheelspeed.

The castle motor is glued together BTW. A heat gun or hair dryer would help take it apart, but they sometimes go heavy on the glue. Also, if you measure the magnet length it would be a more accurate comparison of rotors. Balancing cups and positional magnets don't make the power.
