Outrunner as an internal winch motor

I am getting ready to revisit my TRX4 Tonka project, I want to refine what worked, and fix what didn't. One big driver of this project is being able to do something now that I couldn't back then, that is design and print my own parts. Many parts I used were modified off-the-shelf parts, which could have been done a lot better.

While the truck drove great just as an RC, two failures in this project were the booms and winches. The booms worked, but fine, slow control was lacking, then the booms moved it looked like a retarded bird. There are a couple of things I am going to change to make the control a lot better.

The winches never really worked, and I got to the point that I was tired of looking at it, so I shelved the project. Instead of going with a spool and motor connected by a spur and pinion, I thought about going with a 280 or 380 outrunner motor with a 3-d printed spool sleeve over the top of the rotating can. The biggest problem I can think of is heat, but these are going to be very light duty winches, so I can't really see that as a problem.

Can you think of a better option?

If it looks like the setup you did for the T6 I think you'll be fine for picking up schools and stuff. "thumbsup"
