Default 10000mah Dcell pack

Well I am not worried about the weight of the battery.
I'm looking to make an 7-9cell pack outta some D size NIMH packs.
They are rated at 40amps continuos.

What worries me is the current going through the pack.
I have been told yes these will work and no they will not work, so here is my math question.

My 4200mah pack scientifically means it will run for 1 hour pulling 4.2 amps.
So 30minutes with 8.4 amps of power.
and 15 minutes with 16.8 amps of power.

My truck runs for 13-15 minutes, so thats like almost 20 amps, continuos, so shouldn't the D cells hold up then?

I use c cells in my super and they work great. I don't see why the d's shouldn't work.

A D cell pack would be like running an optima on a trailer behind the truck

It will probably be hard to find a good true 10,000 mah cell that will hold up to 40 amps constant. Hook up a watt meter to your crawler and that will show you what your'e really pulling. If you're using a cheap charger, than that can contribute to poor runtimes.

I just hate seeing people pay good money for hi-capacity cells that are basically lies(I have tested many that are junk from a few un-named companies that WAY over rate them). There are pleunty if them out there but not hi-drain cells.

Id recommend just staying with Sub-C's. You can atleast count on the reputable big names like: GP, IB, Elite, Sanyo.

I have had good luck with the Mcnair c cells that I got off of ebay. 4500mah, I get great runtimes off of them.
