| the Reefs RC 800:IS servo winch
is anybody using the Reefs RC 800:IS servo winch? If so, does it need a line guide/fairlead? |

You'll want one for your bumper or wherever you're routing it. It comes with line and a hook but no fairlead. I dont own one BTW. |

The servo winch is the only Reef part I have ever looked into for about 3 years and probably about 8 RCs. I liked the 3Bros Overlander but wanted a built in spool with it own fair leads. I have been doing this for only about 3 years but I have noticed that most manufactures have their fanboys and their haters. Not saying that is wrong, I actually think it is fine. I like the my team vs your team attitude. I like competition and team spirt. BUT, if I try to find an item everybody agrees on I will end up with nothing. Other than rebranding what issues do you issues do you have with Reef? I really don't care if it is relabel, that is how things often work anyway and not just with RC. If it is something that suits my wants and it is avaialbe when I want it I get it. AND I got a Reef, Ordered yesterday afternoon. I have one and it works great very strong and quiet and as far as a fairlead just depends on your bumper I have custom wertymade bumpers and I use the top of the bumper like in the picture or a D-ring shackle to hold the winch line hook!!! BUZZZZZ....... |

If it were mounted up front do you think I would still need a guide for the line? On my C1 I use a scale winch and only a few feet of line so when I do side pulls there is not enough line to get jammed if the line doesn't wind evenly on the spool. I plan on doing the same here. It is on my C3 and the body is tight up front so I need to lay it down. Last edited by MOguy; 08-26-2021 at 06:44 AM.

HEY MO! BUZZZZZZZ....... Yeah your going to need either a pulley or a tube stainless or plastic to guide the line out for smoothness and life of the the winch line!!!!! Here is en example from my gspeed rig and the pulley to guide the recovery bungee cord but works for winch line under the right circumstances..... Ill get a pic later of a stainless drinking straw I cut and bended to use for winch guide line on one of my rigs..... BUZZZZ..... |

The only issue with plastic items is the winch line can and will cut through plastic parts.

If need be I might have a bumper made with a built in lead or possibly mount the winch where I had intended to mount the battery. If I go that route I will run it though some of the easy flex brake line.

Is the 800 internal spool winch a variable controlled servo? Can the speed be regulated, slowed? |
