did you notice its for 1/18th? you would have to make an adapter plate for it atleast. but it may not have the power you need for a crawler. just wait for JRH to chime in on this subject he'll be able to tell ya

That's one of the 1:18th set ups, they are becoming hot sellers I guess. Seems to be more and more of them popping up. It's not going to be enough motor for even a lightweight 2.2 IMO... |

Uh...yeah...he said he was looking for one for his rc18b...so I am pretty sure he's looking at the right size. Anyways...in regards to that combo...you might want to talk to Holmes on that cause he helped me when I went brushless on my Mini-T and was very helpful in educating me on why it wouldn't be the best idea to just "go big" on the kv like one of those. If I remember right, you'd have to run a minimum of 8 cells on that motor for it to run it's most efficient...but I am sure Holmes can correct me if I am wrong. I only paid a little more getting it from Holmes than what that auction is asking, and you have someone like Holmes to fall back on if you've got any questions. If your dead set on ONLY dishin out that much cash...then Cheap Battery Packs has a combo in that exact price range....just not sure of the componant quality cause I haven't spoken to anyone who's run it yet. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. It would be worth a shot, but make sure that it has a warranty. I have never used that setup. I would also recommend against 8000kv motors. You are very limited with the gearing, voltage, and vehicles that can be run with 8000kv motors. Your runtimes will be short, and you will have to spend a lot of time watching the heat on everything until you learn the setup. I prefer motors in the 4000-6000kv range because you can always gear up for more speed, or volt up for more power. You cant just "detune" a fast system without running a very low voltage or working the ESC very hard. For a crawler, the motor would not work. The ESC might, but I havent tested it to see how it would work with an outrunner. Some ESC's just dont work well for crawling applications as they are designed for plane use, and then tweaked for ground use. Off topic, but might as well be addressed. If it has a warranty, you could always give it a shot. Make sure you have your driveline beefed up even for 7.2volt running though. That motor is a powerful (hot) wind. You will also need TOP NOTCH batteries or lipo. Hand built packs are the only way to get performance with NIMH. JRH |

18b uses a stick layout if I remember, I sold mine a few months back. I would recommend 6 cells at first, good IB1400 or EL1500 cells.

also, i think that cheapbatterypacks.com is selling this combo as well, for around $85 plus shipping. i would like to see if just the controller is available, sans motor, to try and use for an outrunner as a less expensive alternative to a mamba or quark controller

I was thinking the same thing SCC. It would be interesting to test how often the controller gets confused about direction of rotation. From my tests Castle is best, Shulze second, Quark third.

Contacted the seller on ebay I guess you can buy the ESC for $58 might be worth a try in a crawler.

well i got the brushless sys today i just now got home from work i went down to my shop solderd the connectors and deans plugs slapped it in my mini quake now i need to get some differnt gearing its not fast enough for me but i just orderd a Intellect 1400mAh 7.2V I-Stick Battery i will wait for the batt before i change the gears also the delay between forward and reverse it long its got a smart brake built in the esc so it may not work to good in a crawler it says it can handel between 6 - 16.8 volts also you may beable to get a better deal if you go through the manufactor here is the web site for them www.jwerksrc.com |
