Default Novak Crawler esc and 2/3a elite 8 cell pack?

i just ordered a split 8 cell pack for my ax10. they are the 2/3a elite 1500 cells. i didn't even think about the esc limits when i ordered the pack. in the novak crawler esc manual it says only 4-7 cell input (4.8-8.4VDC, 1.2VDC/cell).

will the crawler esc be able to handle an 8 pack cell with the 2/3A cells or do i need to step down to a 7 cell pack? i'm not sure if these smaller cells are putting out less volts or the same as a standard sub size cell. thank you...

I would keep to the manufacturing limits on an item like that. I have ran mine off of the 7cell and it runs well. I just think they put that limit there for a reason and a little less wheelspeed is worth not having the esc release a little smoke. Or its time to upgrade to the sidewinder

If you search around the forum you will find some people running 8 cells with the Rooster Crawler. The rooster crawler is rated for 6 or 7 cells or 2S lipo though. You run the risk of burning up the ESC should you try 8 cells. The higher the input voltage, the lower the BEC output. The rooster crawler has high BEC output of 6volts at 5 amps.

Personally, I would not do it. If you must do it, disconnect the red control wire to the ESC and run an external BEC. I would still PM or email one of the Novak guys and see if that is correct information. Novak suggest 6 or 7 cells for a reason.
