Default Noisy trans cover

I am new to this so maybe this is normal; I find the transcover to be vibration amplifier. I pulled the cover off today and it is so much quieter.

I understand the need - prefer to not get grit in my gears - but hate the noise.

Anybody have a solution for this?

I did search "noisy trans" and came up with loads of threads but none obviously appeared to be about the covers.

If you’re running 32p ditch the cover

There is a tiny bit of play between the pinion and spur gear. I know I should not have them jammed together but, maybe I still have them too close?

Does somebody make a helical spur and pinion set? That would be amazing.

No need . Use a piece of paper and jam them together, spin the paper through the mesh, tighten.

Thanks.

Did the paper trick, its just a touch more open than I had originally. Turns out I am just cranky when it comes to gear noise.

I appreciate the help.
