Re: Brevard County RC crawling

I think that would be great to get something together locally. I am just getting into scale crawling, don't own yet but have borrowed many rigs. I am just north of scottsmoor, not far away at all.

Where is there to run in the Brevard area? I haven't seen anywhere along the island that looks all that fun

Re: Brevard County RC crawling

I don't know of any here, probably find a bike trails or park that has a wooded area that can be trail driven

I know Wickham Park has some good potential but I can't scope it out for a while, got a broke leg that's healing.

Rocks look good for a crawler!!

Re: Brevard County RC crawling

Alright quick update. It was pretty fun. Went and talked to parks and rec. She gave me an email. There is a new director coming in soon and i want to go talk to him in 30 days about allocating an area in the park just for us. What i need to know is how many of us are really interested in this. I want to come to them with a course design, size, and any comp ideas we might have to attract others from outside the area. Let me know what ya think and how many are game. We will have to build our own courses and stuff but we can use any debris around town to do it. Shouldnt cost us any money, just time

I would be interested in helping out build something if they let us. Do you know the name of the lady that you talked to at the ranger trailer?

We gotta get better organized. I'm willing to put in some sweat equity on a course. So far all I do is bash around the yard.

Re: Brevard County RC crawling

I completely agree. Itd be easier if we had a dedicated space. I know we can just go crawl in cocoa where i have a huge rock pile but i dont think we can really alter much there

Alright guys. Big news. I used to work at sea ray running a cnc machine. Since i know how to use them i bought a desktop cnc. That means i will be soon manufacturing parts for our cause. I need to know what needs to be improved. Im gonna start with carbon fiber chassis

Re: Brevard County RC crawling

Ive got a truck and trailer that i would be able to help move rocks and other obstacles to a dedicated spot.

one of the big things i would say to make is the panhard (spelling) bar for scale truck to get the steering servo off the the axle. it is a super simple design and i could get measurements and put them in a solid works file if my license hasn't expired lol

jslmnsn86 01-18-2017 07:39 PM

Re: Brevard County RC crawling

Hell yea. The cnc is showing up on the 26th. I even have a local shop for carbon fiber and plexi

Send me a private message if you want my number. I will offer my assistance as volunteer for manual labor or whatever, I am mostly available in mornings or friday all day. This would be soo cool if y'all got set up with the park.
I have been building a small crawl in my backyard and it is amazing how quickly the pile can add up! Subscribing to this thread, hoping we can keep this stirred up.

I had a small pile in my backyard and it came together so easily but I had to leave and it over grew but all the rocks are still there to be reused
