My .o2 cents I thought these where for the sand? Water and electronic don't go together to well. Great video |

I has seriously only made six circles around the pond with only three passes at WOT. I have read that boats use x2 the power required to travel on water compared to a car at the same speed on land. If that's the case, the boat drained roughly 2000mah in that limited use in both 3S 40C 3000Mah Lipos before the fire. Those six circles happened in under 6-8 minutes. I was surprised how drained the battery packs were, although maybe the fire and possible shorting out ate up some mah? Either way, the brushless boat electronics are no joke. Gavin had left to go explore the park when I ran the boat. He was probably 6 acres away and he said he heard the boat on the water when I had it at WOT. It had some serious speed Quote:
I don't know. I watch the videos from Europe on YouTube and those guys do it all. Water and electronics may not go together in the regular world, but that's only because a true RCC builder hasn't got a hold of them. There is plenty of great products available now that allow us to do things once thought impossible. Visionaries will always push the limits and see possibilities where others see dead ends. That's why some lead and others follow. Thank you for the compliment on the video Rich.

Looks like it's around 190yds I used as many points of reference from the video as I could to make the best guess at the route he took across. The last clip shows him starting with the parking lot directly behind him and he was finishing at the park bench between the two trees which can be seen on the aerial photo. |

You need to call up that chap from the Guiness Book of World Records and get that in there.

Thats impressive! It looks like your speed is a bit slower than the last vids, but maybe it is just that the pond is so much bigger now!

Makes me want a go-fast! That setup has become quite refined, I dig the foam body! |

I was just looking into building a water skipper and came across this forum. First off, Nova's Arc, you are correct about the boat. My boat will only get about 5-7 min run time on 10,000mah due to it pulling 150 amps +. FYI if you are running the stock 6 pole 1800 kv motor, I would recommend staying at 5s or under with the new esc. I keep all my boats at or under the 35k rpm range unloaded, its a general rule. Also if you can, use a 2 parallel battery setup as well. It helps the lipos take the load better. Ok back to the water skippin', can you tell me which corrosion x product you used on the castle esc and how you applied it? I would also like to know where your center of gravity is front to back on your rig. Is it more forward? I'm liking the idea of skipping a few ponds I know about. Thanks for the info! Awesome rig! BTW I use a fishing pole with a heavy lure to retrieve my boat and I'll use it for the water foffer as well. Last edited by Rc Pro; 06-13-2013 at 08:08 PM.

Could you lighten that thing up by using a freezer baggie full of air under the body instead of the chunk of foam? Damn I need to build a FOFF!

| That's quite a weight savings! It worked out better than expected :-) Now I will have matching track width & wheel offset front & rear, matching height and width paddle tires front & rear. I'm eager to get this to some water to test out. Sent from the Lab @ da C.I. Compound |

Nice.. Never thought about using wheels like this for a FOFF.. Great idea. With my old FOFF, I would get dirt in the wheels and it would throw them off balance.. Of course there was also some mud once or twice, and that wasn't fun at all to get out. I just picked up the same BWD chassis and am trying to decide between the VP SCX aluminum axle cases, the Integy cases, or plastic cases with Beef Tubes and the XR mod.. In my old FOFF I ran the plastic cases with steel beef tubes. They stood up to a 4-pole 3900 kv brushless, but the next motor will be in the 5700+kv range, so I feel the need for some HD parts.. |
