Default Serge's GMade R1

Hi All,

Well I have started my R1 build and its going together nicely. I am making all the "classic" mods. Cut my own skid plate and adding the bent links (still need to finish the front links).

I have ordered a highly overkill brushless setup for this, Tekin RS Pro and a LRP Vector X12 21.5T but coming from the RC Heli and Plane world we really like our brushless. I have gone brushed on my Berg Tracer so this will allow me to kinda compare brushed vs brushless for Crawler applications (BTW I am a total Newbie to crawlers)

One thing I was curious about is what sort of articulation folks are getting who are making the bent link mod? What's considered "good" articulation?

Thanks,
Serge

Yes that should be very nice as well, I have some 5mm carbon foil on order as well but somehow think the anodized Alu look is more like what I want.

Please share some pictures when you have something to show.

Great work ssozonoff! Those panels look awesome! Are you going to the get them anodized in a color or leave them natural?

I'd like a copy of the DXF if that's ok.

Hi Mat,

Thanks, my plan is to get them anodized in red like the shocks. I am making a second set which I might leave natural, I am really curious to see what they will look like once they get all dented up :-)

Regarding the DXF, I will make that available shortly. I made a slight change and would like to cut another set to make sure the holes still line up properly. I will try and post the DXF by the end of the week.

Serge

Hi Mat,

The DXF of those side panels can be found here

http://www.mediafire.com/file/5oqlom..._r1_panels.DXF

Might want to print it on paper once to make sure the scale is good before doing anything fancy :-)

Should have my anodized side panels on Fri.

Wow, very nice. I am already beating up my stocker panels. Good Idea. A metal roof panel would be great. That panel gets the hard flip overs alot.

Hello All,

OK, here are a couple of pictures with the anodized alu panels. It did not turn out to bad though I might also have to make a pair of matt black ones

Thanks Mat,

Here are some pictures of my 6 year old tearing it up. Dad is like looking at the abuse

Some things I would like to change:

- As noted by others, torque twist is an issue. You see it well on at least one of the pictures.
- Thing drives like a boat, I need to work on the suspension setup. Might even need to find some slightly stiffer springs. Currently in Sprung mode, could try droop.
- Battery is going on the front axel I think.

Enjoy,
Serge

The R1 is one of the best looking crawlers I have seen lately... I really love it... and this one is superb with the aluminum side pannels... Just need to wait and see how it looks after you scratch it on the rocks a bit.
