teflon tape for the shock threads. The stock shock tend to leak. I found the stock pinion to not mesh properly. I got some RRP 32p pinions and it sounded a lot better. Stock driveshafts will snap apart @ the joints in the first 30 mins of use. plan on upgrading to the steel shafts soon. Wheel weights, if you plan on more crawling then rock racing. Have fun! |

Why a 20 amp BEC? A 10 amp should be more then enough for that servo.

i was going to go with a 5A but Exo said 20A would have been better.. I got a 40c 2s 5000mah battery to go in it.. it may need the 20A?! So.. im going to connect the BEC to ESC.. and the BEC gets the plug to the battery? right? Dean plug? |

Nope, BEC and ESC both get their power from battery. The BEC can then power the servo. I would do a search on how to wire up a BEC to power a servo. There are a number of ways you can do it. I'd explain it, but it's been done many times before and with diagrams. For the sake of space and weight, a 10 amp BEC would have done the job. At least now you are ready for a rear steer servo. |

Rear Steer is considered in this build. Exo has a Venom with rear steer. I got to play with it while i was waiting for my toys to arrive. I was thinking of having the rear steer hardwired but i got a Futaba 3PL. I should be able to turn it on/off now. |

Be careful with those portal gears. I believe there's axle drive pins pushing those portal gears which tend to snap in three on just a 2s 17.5t setup. I don't know anyone that makes beefy upgrades for the R1 portals yet otherwise I'd be all over it! Two of my crawler buddies always break something on their R1s within 20-30 min of mild crawling that a stock RTR Scx10 would have no issue over. Most of the time it's the portal gears. Tranny internals are okay but usually it's the gears and pins inside the axles giving them problems. |

ran it for the 1st time today. 1600 3s 20c battery fits in there very nice. i lost the pins to the drive shafts like 2 times. Seems a crappy design to keep that pin from slipping out. i ll have to upgrade soon for those. Other than that. The servo @ 499oz torq works well. Goat 3s was easy to set up and i put the 10amp castle on it instead of the 5amp one. With the high clearance lower links it did really really well.. The gmade tires grip well in FL sand and limited rocks we have.. but damm.. what a tight fit. it fits but barely lol Thanks for the inputs Mark |

He ran it pretty good today. The 3S really helps it out. I was impressed by it. We will be running it on a course tomorrow. The Novak 18.5 brushless in it has a ton of instant torque so as long as he don't wedge a tire and try to drive out he should be fine.

I got some new Junfac drive shafts for it.. they were pretty cheap. They look ok but i dont see them lasting long. I notice the front end pick up on steep climbs.. what do you gmade guys do for that? add weights to wheels is all i can think of. |

Put some weights in the front rims and extend the wheelbase if you can. Also I have been running JunFac driveshafts for ages now and none of them have broken.

I slapped some wheel weights on the servo and some one the skid.. looks like crap. May have to slap a sticker or something to cover it. I hope this helps in added weight. might look in to those Integy wheels with the weights if this doesnt work. The tire weights were too big and hard to bend to put on the inside of the rim. no idea what people use for that? I ll test it out this weekend. |

I would say you could put some sand or ball bearings inside your tire with the foam to add some weight
