| Leafed or Linked???
I am new to the crawler scene. I started with a TRX 4 and recently built the Bomber kit. I have been bitten by the RC crawler bug and I want more and more. I want to get a more scale crawler and I was going between a TF2 and the Sawback. Read up on some of the TF2 builds and got worried about the quality. The Sawback seems more reasonably priced and from the sound of it, seems more durable than the TF2. So if I go for the Sawback, should I get the leafed or the linked version? Leaning more towards the leafed version. Also what are some much needed upgrades? I like the chassis mounted servo and would like to have a forward battery mount. I've seen a lot about the anti-wrap bars, do they go on the front and rear or just rear axle? Not sure what else so let me know. As always thanks for all the great info and helping the new guys like myself!! |

If you get a Sawback go leaf springs for sure. If you want linked get a different truck. I love my two Sawbacks. I also have a TF2, but I'd pick a Sawback first every day. |

I vote for leafed as well! Anti-Wrap bars front and rear, brass inserts for the axles, and though it's not needed per-se, the metal bushing kit for the leaf springs really smooths out the leaf action. It's a pretty solid truck overall. I'm not a fan of the CMS personally, I feel it makes the steering a bit sloppy since there is no panhard bar. But that's just my 2 cents. |

I am thinking about getting another leaf Sawback. Gave mine to my brother and really miss it. I am also scared of a tf2 but the Marlin has me tempted (the price has me stopped for now).

I couldn't get rid of my TF2 fast enough but I wouldn't part with my Sawback...one of my favorite rigs and it scratches the leaf spring itch more than adequately.

I do have to say the 4ls is tempting as well for Amain's price. Only the price of the roll bar difference. I do like driving a leafed vehicle though

I'm with Jato on this, the leaf sprung Sawback is hard to beat, but when it comes to linked trucks, there are better options... even at the same pricepoint. My vote is: go leafs! |
