| Possible ideas for someone with lathe/mill The idea here is that one side is made out of either a solid rod that is drilled to fit the other, smaller rod, or is made from tubing big enough to fit over the other rod fairly good. Using a spring-roll-pin that would fit tight, or just brazing a rod into the larger tube would act as a 'lock' for the smaller rod that is milled to fit nicely around the springy rolly pinny thing. These are supposed to be sliders, by the way, lol. I thought it would work, and since they'd be metal they would probably not strip, unless the smaller rod got twisted. I thought it'd work, lol, but i don't have the tools to do so. Last edited by Zapper2003; 08-19-2005 at 08:24 PM. |

What about the u-joints? Also why would you need a lathe or mill? Seems like you could just get a rod and hacksaw the grove and get a tube/pipe that fits snugly over the rod. With a v block you could drill the hole in the tube for the pin.

It's just an idea i had, GOSH! *runs off* In all seriousness, it was just somethin i came up with sittin on the toilet, so maybe it should have been flushed, maybe not, but i was thinking metal parts are a bit stronger than some of the plastics we use. |
