| How to steer it?
I'm building custom axles with gears from a Wheely King axle(i locked it). It is a gear like this: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJAM9&P=7 with another smaller one sideways to turn it. It is just a dumb project to occupy me for a while. While i had everything but steering knuckles for a front axle. I need a way to steer it without using them. Is there a way i can move the whole axle to steer it? The axle shaft is completely solid. I may use leaf springs on the axles if i make it a scaler(most likely). Any help would be great. Thanks!!

i think our best bet is to put it on the rear and find an axle with actual knuckles for turning in the front!

yeah. The front wasn't built yet. Any ideas on hooking up a knuckle to the tube?

To steer a straight axle, you'll need to push one end of the axle forward and/or pull the other end back......

right! Move the whole axle! But how do i do suspension on that. The servo can be connected vertically to the chassis(servo horn facing down attached to the axle). but how can i do the suspension on that?

Sounds a little off the wall to me for a crawler But if you are just killing time.................................. Why not use the same strait axle front and rear, and make it either a skid steer, (like a tank or bobcat) or a center pivot frame? (like a skidder) |

I know there are quite a few vehicles that "pivot" in the frame, causing the front end to turn in that manner.. Can't remember what they are off hand, but I believe the military had a few.. could make a good scale project
