Default Bully's Vs. Berg's

Got my Bully's in today. These things make Bergs look and feel like Junk. These Bully's are Made very well and just look nice. I dug into both axles and took some measurements and some Pic'.

Gears
  • Berg Gears... 3.5mm, 3.5mm and 4.15mm
  • Bully's all 6mm wide
Shaft Size
  • Berg Axle Shafts 5mm
  • Bully's 6mm's and 8mm Outers. The Rears are 6mm all the way out to the Hex.

Knuckle Arm thickness.
  • Bergs 6mm
  • Bully's 5mm
Over all Knuckle Size. From top of Knuckle to bottom of Knuckle. (Without Bolts)
  • Berg 32.2mm
  • Bully's 30mm

Tubes unbolted.

Short Side

Now if they can overcome RC4WD's reputation for failure.

So far they look to be very nice. We'll see how they hold up. We already know what the Bergs are capable of.

That is the issue, RC4WD has the reputation that they have for a reason. Seem to rush stuff to production, steal others designs and poor customer service.

stop taking them apart and start testing them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant wait for the testing to be done so I can get mine!
Rc4wd does have a rep for breakages on their first outings but, they also have a rep for sending out free parts to fix what broke. I feel confident that if mine break because of a design flaw (will have to be because these things are BEEF )that they will fix them no questions asked.

Interesting to see both axles from the inside and to be shown some differences.

Hey

RC4wd makes some good products. Their service has improved greatly. I have had no issues with RC4wd product failure or poor service in the last 18 months.

Everyone should refocus this thread, it about these axles and leave their past dealing in other section. I think there is a vendor feedback section.

The axles look great. I am not sure the 4 link placement is far enough from the case, but the first build will show this.

Good Job RC4wd.

RC4wd has taken it to a New Level this year and step up there products and Customer Support.

renoirbud.. There is already a Build with Links being used on a Narrow chassis.
RC4WD Bully axle build up

It's to soon to see which is better or worse. But Right Now. I'm going with the Bullys. The CVD's, high steer knuckles, flat top tubes are a big bonus for me.

I don't think they really need Clocked. Also you have to Remember. These are Prototypes not the Production versions.

Since these are prototype could you see if they can add a few more tapped axle tube holes in the tranny cases? That way we can clock and we dont have any ugly holes to look at.

EDIT: I guess they would have to do something about that notch on the short sides too. Maybe we just need a longer notch or just separatly available axle tubes with different degrees of clocking.

Check out my thread, that run2jeep posted a link to up above. RC4WD posted they will be making 3 changes already based off the feedback in that thread alone.

Fixing the upper link mount, removing the ball linkage from it.
Adding a dust cover over the gear inspection hole.
Additional mounting holes on the front axle tubes.
Offering increased clocked axle tubes as a optional item.

If there are changes you think should be made, speak up in the build threads for these axles. RC4WD is reading all of the comments in these threads.

Keep beating on them!

I have high hopes for these, just want to be sure that the past is indeed in the past. Looking at some of RC4WD's newer releases, they may have turned the corner.
