Default Dig?

I am not quite sure i understand what dig is.
I have searched heaps on it but not quite sure why i would use it? as what advantage it has.(Does it lock ur rear wheels to enable on the spot turning?)

I know this is a stupid question but can someone fill me in please.

thanks

Yes it locks the rear wheels for tighter turning.

There are no stupid questions. Yes it lock's the rear's for tighter turning. But also most dig's can free wheel the rear's as well, which help's on steep climb's. Instead of your rear tire's gripping and flipping you over backwards, it let's the front tire's do all the work by pulling you up. Then you re engage 4x4 and your climbin.
