Delrin links ~ how long is too long? I'd like to ditch the aluminum links on my super and replace them with delrin. How long can they be before it becomes problematic? I'm thinking that a set cut from a sheet would be stronger than rod? Links are bent btw... |
my rears are about 6.5 in long and have no problems oh and it is 1/2 in delrin rod with revo rod ends |
If you're planning on sticking with bent links, you could use acetal tube and then run all thread down the center. I do this with all my links. I use 1/4" acetal with either 8-32 or 4mm run all the way through (whichever one I have). With yours being longer, you could bump it up to 3/8" diameter rod/tube and do the same. With the all thread down the center it will make it easy to bend them. With the 1/4" I use, I just build the whole link and then bend it...no heat or anything, just my hands. With using the 3/8", you may want to use a bit of heat on the point of the bend to keep the acetal from being too stressed and possibly breaking arund the all thread. |
oh and joesbruiser super nat champ uses the same thing, i think his lengh might be a 1/4 in or so differnt |

Cool. My lowers are somewhere between 6-7 inches long, I was a little concerned that they may snap at that lenth. For now I'm doing the BIC pen mod which seems to work pretty well. I'll look into that tubing, sounds like its what I'm looking for, thanks for the info! "thumbsup" |
