| How low is to low?
I recently built my axial based comp crawler. The WB is 12 1/4". And was 2" of ground clearance. I was draggin the belly and getting hung up alot. I recently raised the chassis by remounting the shocks to 2 1/2". My question is, in your opinion, How low is to low? (p.s. I am full droop and running a TAG~S chassis) |

I run full droop and I run 2 1/4' towards the front and 2 3/8 towards the rear of the chassis. I get hung up on some places but I can usually get going. I think there's a fine line as far as whats too low. then there's always driving style and preference.

I personally prefer sprung rigs. I run around 2 3/4" front and 3 1/8"" ground clearance in the rear on my comp rig. Here in the NW, the droop doesn't seem to work as well because there's alot of breakover ledges, and you need more GC. Alot of guys are running torsion chassis to get more breakover.

I don't care much for anything lower than 2". Personally around the 2-3/4" to 3" mark is much better, but at 2" you can just get you a 7t Cobalt and power over everything that you might get hung up on.

My Widow that was set up full droop was only running 1 7/8"...and it worked pretty well where I go crawlin...about as low as I would go with droop. 2" to 2 1/4" is about a typical minimum unless your running sprung...then it'd be higher. Last edited by Offroader5; 03-23-2009 at 07:28 PM. |

i run 2 1/2" gc and get hung up sometimes, but power through it...i feel more will just give me an easier tip over point...I'm running droop with modified stock chassis.

Fully sprung rig, sitting at 2-1/4" GC. Nice and low. Really hung up with a 7T puller and 3S lipo.

theres no real set height thst is better than others. Basicly put it as low as you can without it getting hung up on the stuff you run and your good. Some guys run on terrain that affords them to run 2" and some of us have to have at least 2.75". It all depends on your terrain. |
