What are the biggest rod ends available?

Hey guys, i need some assistance finding the biggest rod end that would look somewhat scale on 3/8" tubing. I've used traxxas rod ends with my 1/6 JK but they are really small when used with 3/8" tubing and they snap like pretzels under the weight of the heavy s.o.b. I went through an entire package of 12 spare rod ends in just one summer. (better the rod ends break than anything else ya know). I've been looking at rc4wd's rod ends but from my research here, they aren't very durable when it comes to mud and dirt containimating the ball and sockets. I know those will NOT break and they do come in m5 size, which is the biggest i've seen. I've upgraded to raptor axles and using a fully welded steel frame so there's nothing to break like my old stock clod axles so I don't mind un-breakable rod ends now. What's out there that I'm missing out on? I would like rod ends that use thick threaded rod, like 8/32 or bigger.

If you have any suggestions, throw em out there.

This is gonna be used with a 1/6 HEAVY Jeep gladiator with a steel frame, raptors, and a whole lotta speed. "thumbsup"

Thanks!

Chris

Holy @$!# I love you man! Haha, i just read through 32 threads lookin for an answer and all i've read about is Revo ends. These look like what I need. What scale is that axle cuz it makes the rod look puny.

Perfect! Thanks!

Chris

I've never had a Jato Long end fail and they fit perfectly on 3/8" threaded rod:
(here they are compared to the Jato Short ends)

Here's where I get them:

Those would work too. Is that 3/8" threaded rod or 3/8" tubing? If tubing, what size threaded rod?

JeremyH 04-02-2009 04:58 AM

Oops.....sorry, I meant to say 8/32 threaded rod. The tubing is 0.25" OD x 0.035" Wall T-304 Seamless Stainless Tube.

Thanks for the fix. I ran 1/4" tubed links on the JK and they appeared to be quite small so 3/8" is what i'm aiming for. These links still might look good on 3/8" tube so I'll consider these.

Thanks.

No problem. Glad to help.

muddeprived 04-02-2009 05:25 AM

Anyone know what size the losi 8t rod ends are? I hear they are bigger than the norm.

Hey run, when i search for these, it comes up with package deals but with different size rod ends in the package. Am i looking for the wrong part?

muddeprived 04-02-2009 05:43 AM

Alright I've done some homework. I'm lookin at two sets of m5 gmade rod ends, 2 meters of m5 threaded rod, and one package of 100 m5 nuts.

m5 rod ends x2: $26
m5 threaded rod 2 meters: $9
m5 nuts x 100: $5

$39 total to make my links. Sounds pretty reasonable. :)

The upper arm rod ends on my Kyosho 777 buggy are pretty large. I have some of those Gmades...and they are huge, they should do just fine. :)

I guess i'll go with the gmades. I found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6040733864

20 for $26 shipped but probably gonna take a while since it's shipping overseas but a good deal ;)

I'm kinda confused in all the names, junfac, gmade, and the ebay pages says tamaya txt. which rc uses these rod ends or are there more than one?

Junfac & Gmade are the same company.

They are just saying that one application/use for those ends are the TXT...probably since the TXT is a larger scale truck.

They have held up on his 15 pound tuber no issue with all the crazy abuse he has put it though. The pivot balls snap firmly in place we used a vice to get them in, haha. Last rod ends you will have to buy ever.

muddeprived 04-03-2009 06:03 AM

I looked these up. They do not include balls. Do you have a part number for these?

here's what i found:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Losi-5mm-Rod-End...3286.m20.l1116

http://cgi.ebay.com/Losi-HD-Rod-Ends...3286.m20.l1116

Seems there are two different rod ends. One comes with balls, the other does not. Are they both the same size? Any idea what size bolt fits in those balls?

muddeprived 04-11-2009 05:41 AM

Got em and damn that's some beef!

Weird thing though, i ordered these from the other side of the world and I also ordered revo's from tower hobbies at the same time. I got these already but haven't gotten the revo's yet. They were shipped on the same day too.
