| Stick or Pistol - What do you use?
I did some searching and found only a couple of fairly old threads. I thought it would be interesting to see what others are using and why. After you vote, please give the specs and any pros and/or cons. Personally, I use a Spektrum DX3r. I like it because it was extremely easy to set up my DNA dig. I am considering a super build and wonder if a stick would be better. |

I honestly prefer using a pistol for my comp rig, but I use a dx6i for both comp rig and scaler. Contemplating on building a super also. I got the dx6i for the xtra channels for the scaler and also use some on the comp rig. I did some mods to the dx6i where it works like an "old school" stick radio. I took the other two channels that were on the sticks and made them into switches on controller. Works really well!!!

I use a stick radio as well. I changed over from pistol to stick about 6 months ago. I was using a DX6 (just sold it this week) but I just upgraded to a DX7 (should be here this week). I use it for my 2.2 comp rig, 1.9 scaler, 2.2 scaler, and my Super. I found it to be easier to have one radio for all my crawlers. I am old enough to remember stick radios in the '80's so it wasn't that big of a deal to go from my KO Propo pistol grip radio to the stick controls of the DX6. I am not certain I would recommend it for everyone. It ultimately comes down to your personal preference. I do enjoy it and use the extra channels in my scalers though and I found it easiest to use in my Clod Super.

I've got a pistol, but just recently bought a stick DX6. I'm using it right now to try and adjust, but surprisingly it hasn't been to hard to switch between the two. I just like the options with the stick radio. 6 CHANNELS |

Hard to control 4 channels with a gun. stick, each stick has throttle and steering for one axle. |

I bought a DX6 when I built my first crawler (Clod), and I have gotten use to it...so I use it on my other crawlers as well. My go fast rigs on the other hand, are all pistols. For some reason I just can't get used to a stick radio when I am trying to go fast. It's bad enough that my 2.2's go so fast with the Puller motors in them |

I grew up driving r/c's with a stick type radio, ran pistols for awhile, got a DX-6 and use it pretty much on everything! This guy drives a stick radio too.... |

| Dx7 Here
i use a stick, heli type(no spring on the throttle stick) and its nice cause u can get the rig going super slow and take ure hands off if need be. and ive tried/currently run both pistol and stick and on the same rigs the stick gives me better throttle control. just my 2c. its all what you get used too. |

DX7 for my comp rigs- no better way to have independent throttle and steering channels. pistols for everything else. I hate lugging around a stick radio when I am bashing or crawling with a two channel rig. |
