Default tranny question

does anyone know the gear ratio differance between the r2d and the losi tranny?????im wanting to run the r2d with the losi axles,??good idea or bad??

The losi tranny has almost no reduction, the R2 is something like 4:1. The crawler would be slooooooow. You'd have to run a pretty quick motor to overcome the gear reduction and even then, you'll drain batteries quicker and probably generate quite a bit of heat.

Not sure why you'd want to "downgrade" to an R2 tranny anyway. You'd be giving up a very smooth dig mechanism and you'd lose the ability to use front dig.

thanks for the feedback, one thing ive been thinking about, for that radio, wouldnt i need a 4 position,,,front dig, rear dig, freewheel rear, and locked 4x4?

Losi axles have worm gears, so they won't freewheel. So you only need a 3 position switch. Center position is 4x4, the other two are either front or rear dig.
