| What Motor or Gearing with R2D Tranny
I have just installed a R2D Dig tranny, works great but I need more tire speed when needed. I have a 55 Turn motor, do I need to changed this?

My opinion would be to keep your setup and just change the gears out(pinion&spur gears.). Again thats my two cents.

I think the r2d comes with a 8 tooth pinion. the tooth pitch is 32. I have a 65 turn and a 15 or 16 tooth pinion and it is about the same as a stock set up.... a little on the slow side, but not bad.

How many volts are you running? More volts = more wheel speed. You could also change to a higher pinion, but you will lose torque. |

I ran a 55T Integy motor with a 12T pinion on a 3Cell Lipo and it had descent wheel speed and plenty of torque. | |

I put a 16t on my r2d/55 on 3s. The r2 is geared really low compared to the axial. It does much better with a lower turn motor. It was super fast with a 500 puller and stock pinion (before it blew up) but with a 55t it is really slow.

55T motor with 13 or 14 tooth pinion on 3cell should work just fine... lots of tork and good wheel speed... ran that combo for awhile.... |

I run a 45T, 12 tooth pinion, 3cell 1320 and Rovers on 1" wide Comp Heavies. Has good wheel speed and plenty of low end. Was thinking of trying a 13t pinion or a 35T hand wound just for sh**s and giggles. The R2 will take just about anything that you throw at as long as you keep it lubed. I lube mine after every comp. |

I've got a 55t in my scaler, 13 or 14t pinion (don't remember) and a 3s, 2200mah 25c lipo. Pretty good setup IMO.
