I cut out the whole battery tray. Well everything except the four screw holes that the blue arms bolt to. Then I just moved the battery in between the front shocks. BLK6.0HD has a thread with a good pic of the battery. In one of my threads there is a pick of my "tummy tuck".

Oh, I see it now, it accutally has more clearance than my stick will have, i'm using a piece of 5/16" all thread, lock nut on each end and some brass(I think) tubing from a fire poker set (it went around a rod that connected the poker to the handle, i'm using the poker end to hold the springer on my beach cruiser together) for the middle, cheap but effective, 2 feet of all thread, two lock nuts and four regular nuts was under 3 bucks, this project hasn't reached 55 bucks yet.

I saw something you might have over looked. Why don't you flip your rear axle backwards for more clearance?

Be the first to go out on a limb and shave off the rear part of the front axle so that it doesn't get hung up on stuff... Looks good so far. We want flex pics!

Magic, I love the idea of the flat aluminum stock for a chassis. I think I may borrow your idea but use some 1/8th inch x 1 3/4 inch flat steel stock, just to give it a little weight down low. I'll probably cut the whole battery box off of the plastic chassis and leave the flat piece where the circuit board use to be to mount the electronics. If my calculations are correct, I should have to push the chassis down about 1/4 inch and attach the steel piece to the bottom of the plastic chassis. This will load the shocks. So anytime one wheel raises off the ground the others will have enough load on them to keep the other 3 pushing the wheels down towards the ground. And I will still have enough articulation for a scale rig. Then I'll probably add some MOABS, and some real electronics. I may also do the mod of adding a second gear reduction from a parts truck. I'll post some pics when I'm done and let you see how it went. Later Clark |
