my take on a homemade indoor rock course
 

hey everyone, I've been deciding on what to do for an indoor rock course, ive searched and searched and came upon this http://www.aroararacing.org/forum/vi...php?f=11&t=392 I was facinated by it, and then i knew what i wanted to do, so i got a bunch of boxes and started to form them into rocks and then got 6 cans of great stuff foam(still need about 3 more) and covered it with it, im still deciding on what to cover it with like burlap with mortor, or chicken wire with concrete ect.. and opinoins welcome! so here it is now, it still needs to cure, i dont think i did to bad as im only 14, ill keep updating with pics. as i get along, so ill stop blabbing and get on tot he pics,

"thumbsup" pretty tight bro, You need to hack at it with some sandpaper/chisel. Get some real formations in that!

"thumbsup" thats a real good start!"thumbsup" FYi ive seen some people get stiro-foam blocks and carve them out and cover them with cloth, and some gel stuff, but i love your idea! keep it up!"thumbsup"

its the camera angle, its actually full of different levels and un-even terain, when i get more foam tomorrow im going to add some more bumps and things, as for the foam chunks, i looked EVERYWERE for them but i couldnt find anything. if you have any boat dock builders or distibutars check with them for old dock foam. they take out the old stuff to put in new expanded foam, and the can't use the old stuff again because it's water logged. I got a bunch for free.

after carving it I covered it with old metal window screen and coated it with waterproof grout or stucco...

this was a small piece to try it, only 4 ft by 4ft about 18 in thick. It is strong, I weigh over 200 and can stand on it no problem. can be a little heavey but can be moved if needed.

I tried the spray foam first, but it just didn't get completely hard and was preety expensive if you want to do a big course.

nice work though,way to use your head and come up with something.

hey, i saw your post, thats nice!. i looked everywhere, i contacted all my local docks and marinas, ive tried craiglist, everywhere but no luck.

do anyof you guys have suggestions on what i should cover it with? i finished the foam part, now im waiting for it to dry then ill update
