running skinny claws

took the idea from the 1:6 and tried it with the 1:18 tires. it added a bit more ground clearance which is good.

you can see how skinny they get here.

that was the biggest part of it. that and it pulls the edge of the lugs down to the sides a bit.
the tires seemed to work about the same from on the rock when i was out at that place the last time.

CHEVY_454 01-29-2006 09:21 PM

so who won?

twisted 01-29-2006 09:53 PM

is that tuber using mini lst tires ? how did he mount them ?

Lt. Dan 01-30-2006 04:44 AM

Nice rigs there Bowtie, looks like fun! I tried that with a set of tires and the screw heads hit the steering knuckles. Did you have to use spacers or something? Looks cool, good work.

Glue and screw like any other 2.2. I have a set of MLST's set up for a Nylint. In my experience they're a tad on the short side, not enough ground clearance really. They are however extremely soft and grippy.

we didn't have a problem with the screws hitting the knuckles. the white jeep has spacers though, but that was just to widen the stance a bit.

did you tighten the screws all the way?

dhoffroad 01-30-2006 02:04 PM

spacers to widen the stance ?? what did he use ? and how much did it widen it ?

not much, it's roughtly 1/4" per side in front and shorter in the rear. he used some aluminum tubing that fit inside the wheel hexes and black hub.

dhoffroad 01-30-2006 03:13 PM

oh, ok, thanks...
