| Exceed Maxstone 10 and X-trail?
Looking for info on whether TCS' X-Trail will work with my Maxstone 10. I understand it's basically a clone of the AX-10, but noticed differences in the type and where the frame spacers are mounted. My goal is to turn this into a Class 3 scale rig. Would have posted in the X-Trail thread, but wanted to hit more of the population. Finally, is this worth the effort of converting the Maxstone 10? I've got an SCX-10 on the way that will be my Class 2, but wanted to have two trucks. I'm stationed in Korea, so limited on resources. TIA!

I'd use the scx10 for the class3 and use the x trail for the class 2 because the xtrail will flex more since it's not c channel, and everything should be able to swap over, maybe not the tranny but I know the axles can

Didn't think about the chassis flex part of it, thanks!

It's fine, just use your axial scx10 and axles if ya have them and use that for the class3 since there are more aftermarket stuff to make them damn near unbreakable lol and just use your xtrail and the other axles for the class2. I don't know what type of tranny it uses but if ya have some sort of skill and tools, you might be able to make your own skid to hold it or if ya have a spare axial tranny, just use it

Tools and skills I do have. I don't have a spare tranny, but I think I can manufacture something to hold it until it breaks/I get bored with it/something peaks my interest, etc.

If you have the Maxstone 10 like this? Then the tranny looks just like the axial one. It should work no problem! |

Sorry for the lack of attention, been crazy past few days. Anyway, chassis has been ordered, hopefully it'll be here next week. My Cherokee body has been painted, just gotta add some minor detailing. jokers toys- Cool, I'll start charging the DeWalt and scrounging up the small drill bits! |

I know the rear four link plate I made for my axial was very very close to the exceed! I was able to get all three screws in, one of them started on a little angle but then went in.

I forgot to change the shipping address for my chassis ; it ended up with my wife back in the states. Now I gotta wait for another week or so till it gets here. Downfall of being overseas.

UPDATE: Finally got my chassis in today and swapped everything over from the Maxstone 10. Everything swapped over like it was meant to be. Had a couple things that were different from TCS' manual, and I want to do more of a "lessons learned" than a build thread. Where should that go? Gen crawlers, scalers, AX-10, etc...? I'll get the pics up after work tomorrow. Right now, it's time for some sleep |
