| has any1 waterproofed there nylint?
Well it rained here yesterday and i decieded to drive the nylint out on the slippery course when i dropped into a pretty big standing water puddle when i realized water was getting into the axle so i quick flushed all the water out and dried it off and have kept it in pieces over night but i was wondering if water proofing would be a good idea. I did it to my TLT and my Mini T but since i nylint is cheap i just figured WHAT THE HELL but i am on my second Nylint now and i would like to keep it running for those days the TLT is on the self but would ballons work? any replys would be appreciated steve |

only problem with water in the nylints i have run across is that the stock belts will slip reall ybad when the axles fill up. Other than that just makes sure you clean and dry the internals well after you play. Once you get chassis deep though you are going to have a major leak through the on off switch.... past that you better get creative with the circuit boards. |

I used duc tape and taped over the vents on the axles, I use One of my 1:6's strickly for mudding, never have had a problem. I wouldn't go in water as deep as the on/off switch or the boards, but you can still do some pretty deep mud boggin. Of course I have a tt on my bogger so the switch is moved up a ways.

problem you will run into is getting the axles COMPLETELY sealed.....i thought i have the axles sealed on my modded one by hotglueing over the vents, BUT it wasn't because it is virtually impossible to seal the ends where the bearings are.

well, it dont have an engine, it has a motor......if thats all your worried about, just pull it open and wrap electical tape around it and superglue the end so it dont come off..... BUT the motor builds up heat and needs to vent, but it cant with anything over it.... my advice is to just stay away from water, once you get any in the axle your done for a while anyways because the belts will slip like crazy |

| waterproofing stuff !
first all you need to do is use hot glue to close the vents and run a smooth bead around the axle edges with your finger or just use silicone then you pack the axle ends with heavy grease it last a little while but fun will be had !! i've found the motors dont really get that hot enough that it will overheat inside the axle and besides you are in cold water and this is going to keep the axle cooler. the grease will last long enough for a couple of good water bog wheeliing sessions. and if you are getting water in the electronics in the jeep body then youve gone in too deep all you need is the axles protected !!! so far ive had good luck with water doppin!! |
