Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... I bought my house this year, been living in apartments and etc for ever. Now I don't have to work about making holes in the walls and etc. :D I plan on taking some vacation next week and decided to overhaul my shop, I hope my shop looks half as good as Harley's:mrgreen:. Its currently pretty cluttered and not too well organized. I plan on adding a lot of shelf's and add a way bigger workbench. Before pics... http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMAG1329.jpg Here is the design I am going with, designed it up in CATIA to play around with the dimensions and etc. CATIA manikins FTW!:lmao::mrgreen: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...Workshop/1.jpg |

Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Here is my progress so far, still a bit more shelf's to make but I am getting close. Man, I never thought I was going to get my shop back together, it was a big messy pile for a few days there. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...p/IMG_9532.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...p/IMG_9535.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...p/IMG_9533.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...p/IMG_9534.jpg |

Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Justin, Paint the walls behind the shelving it makes a big difference out in the shop for workspace lighting and just in general. The redo looks great. |

Great call on your upper shelving units....looking good. |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... nice work with the CATIA model ! I have a current student version that I'm struggling with. I know that you can import a file to replace the default 'human model' with, I just haven't gotten that far with it. |

Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Great job on the overhaul, i only wish i had that much room."thumbsup""thumbsup". By the way i went with a light gray in eggshell to keep the glare down. Can't wait to see it done. |

Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Got the last of the shelf's done. I even made a shelf for my stereo stuff....yes...your not seeing things...that's a old school 200 CD changer(just can't part with it), I guess in case my iPod breaks down.http://warcrc.org/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...p/IMG_9572.jpg |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Love the new layout. I'm currently making some sketches of my new layout, i got a 18' x 20' room and well i need to use my imagination to fill it up :) I like the shelf idea how it comes up and over the work bench. What ply did you use? I see it's 3/4" but the species ? |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... can we see a pic of your shelve with all of your RCs on it please! |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Looks good.."thumbsup" One thing tho...... your Chevy truggy looks lonely sitting up there stripped and all alone above your tools....lol. |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Wow, that is truly inspirational Justin. I really need to do something like that to organize my garage and make better use of the 10' ceiling in it. Great work. "thumbsup" You make it look easy, I can do metal but wood scares me. :ror: |
Re: Justin's workshop "OVERHAUL"... Quote:
The shelf's have 1/4" plywood and the bench top has a nice finished 5/8" plywood (don't remember the wood type or if its really 3/4") . For some reason when I went to Home Depot the 3/4" was $37 for a 4'x8' sheet, but the thicker stuff was only $26. I think the stuff I used was a uncommon size or something....I don't care....its was cheaper. Quote:

As for making it look easy....it wasn't.:lmao::mrgreen: I only had my GF helping me hold up shelf's while I screwed them in. But putting up temporary blocks on the wall for the shelf to rest on while I screwed it in....really help. Good luck on your shop.....lets see a build thread. |
