Default Proline power stroke shocks. All 4 leaking.

Has anyone had issues with proline powerstroke scalers leaking? I've had them for a month and all 4 are leaking. I paid a pretty penny for these so I'm kinda disapointed. If I wanted leaky shocks I would of kept the stock Axials. I'm running 50wt oil. Could that be the issue? I know that is pretty thick oil.

Some folks have had good luck by rebuilding them with Green Slime and X-Rings. I think Associated sells the proper size but they are pretty expensive. You can buy them in bulk from McMaster Carr for cheap. I just cant remember the size off the top of my head.

What is green slime? Shock oil? I'm thinking maybe since I'm running thick shock oil, and since I'm in canada running in very cold temperatures it may be causing the oil to push through the seals

Green slime is applied to the o rings to help seal them better.

Green Slime is for lubricating shock O-Rings. Its sold by Team Associated. You should be able to buy it at just about any hobby shop or online.

Many of the shocks just leak. I own 2 sets of them and I think only 2 actually hold oil, but I have not tried the x rings. As for your temp questions, I cant help ya....I stay the heck away from cold. I'd guess that 50wt is too thick, but I doubt that's causing your leaks.

Are X rings a generic shock Oring kit? Or are they brand specific?

X rings are just a different design than O rings, the letter just describes the shape of the cross section (I.E. O rings are circular, x rings are x shaped)

Give the associated orings a try.I have leaky Axial icon shocks that were built with green slime. They still leaked.I used the associated xrings with the green slime and they seem to be holding oil fine now.
Worth a try.
