Default Hello

I'm another newbie stopping in. I was out looking for an RC car or truck for some young cousins when I spotted the Nylint. I'd actually already bought a New Bright crawler at Toys R Us and then saw this one at Walmart. Looked like a better deal so I returned the NB. From what I've seen I was right. Funny thing is I ended up keeping it for myself! Kids like fast so I'll get them something else. Reason I posted is to point out something I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned here: If you hold the car up in the air and turn one set of wheels fairly fast, the other set turns too, even though there's no mechanical connection between them! How is that possible? My guess is that because of the very low gearing, turning the wheel by hand actually generates an appreciable current from the motor (motors and generators are pretty much identical, just reversed) which feeds back into the electronics and into the other motor. Pretty cool if that's it, or am I missing something more obvious? Look forward to getting lots of cool ideas and info around here.

yeah, the motors are connected electrically, and as one generates electricity, it feeds back to the other.

Default My first climb!

I live in the city so no real rocks to crawl so I found a construction site that wasn't being used at the moment. There was a nice rock pile just waiting to be conquered.

Here we go...

I think I can! I think I can!

Only in a Jeep...

Hey, gimme a break I'm a noob at this!
Besides, this thing is so heavy the rocks constantly slid under the wheels, it's not like climbing one big rock. Ah well, like they say, you have to walk before you can crawl.

Default Ah yes...

1 question. I'd love to add some auxilliary lights to the front or on the roll cage. Is there any place that has scale lights like that? I've looked around a fair bit but no joy...

you could go the way i went and take the lightbar off an old rc truck. for power i used 4 rechargable AA's in a battery holder from radio shack. simple and cheap.
