6" is too tall, IMO. Just shy of 5.75" is what I'd prefer....

I assume you are talking about a 2.2 comp crawler class?

Mounted up and ready to go I would say 5.5"-5.75" tall by 1.75"-2.25" wide.

Big holes need big tires. And noone makes a 6" production tire, so you'd have that segment all to yourself.
I say 6" tall x 1.75-2" wide.
Nice long contact patch rather than wide.
Thin soft sidewalls so the user doesn't have to shave them.

a 6in tire with soft sidewalls  thats going to be a sidehilling disaster

I say space the pins out a little farther than other pin tires that are out on the market so they'll grab ledges better.

5.75in x 1.9-2.4in wide and web the sidewalls so they arent rolling over on side hills, and that should make it some what easier to tune with a foam too. maybe have some sort of solid lug spaced very sparsely for better digging and grabbing ledges.

after this tire is released would you look at maybe a 1.9 comp or scale tire?

.

Not correcting, just mentioning. "thumbsup"

Depends on the tire compound used. If it's a really soft compound and alot of space is between lugs, they'll just fold over and won't do their job.

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imo I would prefer a tire around 5.7" tall and 2.15"-2.25" wide when mounted on a 1" wide wheel.

I think that brings up a good point! I was thinking keep the lugs a little farther apart than say short course pin type tires, but not near as far apart as the old school pin type tires that came on off road buggies. that way the compound isnt a problem of lug folding "thumbsup"

I would also say make the pins a touch taller/ deeper tread than racing style pin tires. (but not too much to where they fold)

6'' is deffinatly too tall. I would say 5.5'' to 5.7'' max. Width i like too see under 2'' say 1.75'' on a 1'' wheel.Needs too be light weight,a stock white rover with a little wear weighs about 90.3 grams,my shaved ones 88 grams. The trend these days seems to be shaved sidewalls,so a less aggressive and softer sidewall probably would be the ticket.Softer sidewalls can be tuned with foams. And with the pin design, guys can cut, cut, cut to their hearts content.

Thanks Matt for working on a new tire for the comp world.Looking forward too seeing what you come up with."thumbsup"

I would suggest making the tire a solid 5.5" tall

Width 1.75

Pins a little larger around than the tires currently out there.

Short lugs, NOT tall

Smooth sidewalls.

Great compound.

You will sell a zillion sets"thumbsup"

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Id would run them. would a dual compound tire be possible. medium side walls with pins spaced out like1/8 " apart. And a super sticky pin compound on top

How about a sticky and soft carcass and a medium pin?

IMO, the rubber compound is far more important than the tread pattern. Get the rubber right, and they'll sell.

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the taller tire idea, no one makes one that tall, plus the pins I think tend to sit lower than a lugged design just due to the fact that the lugged hold their shape and don't fold down. I hope that made sense, anyway good luck!

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm with most people, 5.5 to 5.75 inches tall mounted on a 1 inch wheel. width 2.2 inch or narrower. i like the idea of a webbed sidewall to help sidehill stability, and if you could duplicate the rubber compound of the panther lepoards that would be awesome. as far as pins go, i think shorter would be better than taller, but i would put as many pins on as possible. this would give the end user the ability to cut/trim to personal taste. and for the love of god, make the bead better than the boss claws for mounting!!

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think 6" tall and a width of 2" is perfect. Maybe like a medium/soft compound. That way if people want to shave the sidewalls they can and if people dont, the tire will still perform great.

My ax is set up for 6" tires so that is the main reason i suggested it:mrgreen:

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a set of custom pin tires that are 5.7 x 2" and it is amazing the difference it makes in ground clearance. I wouldn't go any taller as i think you will be getting to much side wall and it will hurt performance.

Re: OTTSIX Pin Tire INPUT NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- 5.8" tall, 2" wide.
-Thin, smooth sidewals, but have the very outer edge of pins come around the corner where the sidewall and crown meet, so that there s a little bit of grab when the tire is folding onto it's edge.
- Softest compound you can find.
- 2 size pins on one tire.

Perhaps something like thism byt with square pin shape.

O o O o O o O
