phase 1 prototype my first using my frame JIG so invested in some tool's to make my cages better for me. I started building these in the back yard with nothing but a hack saw, lawn chair and a camp fold up table, and a Home Depot brazing set so here it is about 10 years later, and still hooked on doing crawlers (but just only started showing on the RCC web site for a short time what I"ve done the last one) nothing to fancy, but will get me started http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45820.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45819.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45818.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45816.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45817.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45815.jpg this is one I did before the rjg, didn't like it and never finished (traded to KMS). http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-45651.jpg so I was always trying to fine the best way in building these, and always wanted to build a jig( because of the heat warp from brazing). But it was always out of range, because the locale mechanic / mechanist wanted way to much to build one for me. so long story right. wrong started to deal with the sale/wanted section here in the last few months, and guess what happened. :flipoff: 'S still have to learn and build off this thing but cool none the less. Alot more parts have to be done to be able to complete a full rig. but way to happy right now to care. thanks a hole lot to KMS for the set up |
Re: phase 1 prototype WOW,,Nice mini mill looks almost new ,,,LOL ,,great job on the chassis jig.The chassis looks straight too,,,,KMS,,,"thumbsup" Oh,,mailed the parts we forgot to load up,,, today,,,Post office says maybe next year ..... |
Re: phase 1 prototype ya I guess the guy that had it didn't know or wanted to use it vary much  or he had to many other mills laying around. will see if I know how to use this thing. be able to start the other part of the jig soon. |
Re: phase 1 prototype Are you on Vacation ,,,,LOL,,,, |
Re: phase 1 prototype Nice looking chassis."thumbsup" What are you using to make the bends, they look really clean. |
Re: phase 1 prototype Quote:
just some home made benders 12'' C channel with a 3/4 square handle with different washers/ bolts welded to make the bends (different sizes). that's not one I'll be taking any pic's of. mainly pretty easy bender to build |

Re: phase 1 prototype couple pic's of what has been done so far, not much but will give a little idea of were the cage is headed in as for a design and overall look http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-46045.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-46044.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3391-46043.jpg not to sure of the rest of the cage might combine a few different rigs to come up with a different look rather than trying to copy just one rig. so if any one has a cool looking southern build post up pics. so I can kinda steel ideas from them thanks for looking |
Re: phase 1 prototype 5 Attachment(s) Dang ,,Nick thats awsome,,,Here's what I have done with mine,,just mocked up looking to see what way I will be going with it ,,,Robert |
Re: phase 1 prototype Respect |
Re: phase 1 prototype good start like the body robert (KMS). one thing though is their nuts on the back you can bolt the body to. thinking you could cut the back of the body a bit to fit the cage better. but cool none the less |
