Default Which spur/pinion combo is best?

Hi All.
I have the AX10 & I'm running a 32 turn motor. Currently, I have a 78t spur & a 22t pinion.
I know that these are probably the wrong sizes. What would be the best to use? Does the pitch matter?
I'm not certain if I'm calculating correctly. I saw that the recommended gear ratio for a 32T motor should be 5.2 - 5.9. If this is correct then if I get a 16t pinion then should I be looking for an 83 - 95t spur?
Any help would be great, thanks.
PS: How do I attach a pic of my rig from my pc? I'm a tad limited in my pc skills!!!

Pitch does matter! Must be the same or it won't work.
Standard is 48p. (48 teeth per inch diametre.)
Stock setup for the AX10 Scorpion (the older version AX10) is 87T spur and 20T or 14T pinion for a 27T motor, with 14T for pure crawling.
If you get a spur at about 90T (within 87-96 range) you should be good to go! Then you can make adjustments by switching to larger or smaller pinion as you see fit.

I think the recommendation you found was regarding motor-to-wheel ratio for speed cars, but i might be wrong.

How to post pics.

I run a 27T on 3S, 14/87. I like the motor to turn a bit more rpm at the slower speeds. It seems smoother this way to me, and it doesn't work as hard or get as hot.

Thanks so much for the advice. I managed to change my pinion to a 17t which helped a lot.
The AX10 motor mount doesn't have a lot of play. I tried to put a 90t spur on but the motor is still too close for any size pinion. Should I try to modify it or is there another one I should try getting?

Which AX10 do you have? The old Scorpion or the new Ridgecrest/Deadbolt?

I see they use the same gearbox, but the newer ones come with a 20T motor and are run with smaller pinions.
Seems to be no other than 87T spur available as option gear.

There are a ton of spur options available, Robinson Racing, HPI, Hot Racing...

I'm running a 90 spur (RR plastic), 15 pinion (RR), with a 35 turn and 3s on my 2.2s AX10 (first gen). I have a good mix of speed and torque with that setup.

Imo the only constant should be a 32pitch. After that the gearing of said pitch depends on setup... Weight, motor speed and voltage. Typically a 5-6 ratio at the spur/pinion for an axial drivetrain has worked for me.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I imported my AX10 from Tower Hobbies about 5 - 7 yrs ago. I guess that makes it first gen. the motor plate part number is AX30491. From what I have heard, the part AX30490, doesn't exist anymore. It seams like I'm going to have to modify the plate myself.
Regarding the spur gear, Axial has a plate behind the spur that has 3 studs on it (to locate the spur) that fit into the holes on the spur. In addition to these studs, they have 3 screws to bind them together. Any other spur that I use has its holes incorrectly positioned for the studs. I guess I could file them off but I don't want to go that route if I don't need to.

Hey mate, There are a number of spurs you can use, the Robinson Racing 87, 90 and 93 T spurs all have the approrpiate holes to pull up to the SCX/AX10 sour carrier and/or slipper assembly.

If you go 32P (like a 56/9 for a 6:1ratio) the Duratrax 56T and 60T spurs also work.

Gen 1 hey, wish I had one of those, just sitting there......
