Axial SCX10 G6 Build This is first attempt at posting a build thread so we will see how many times I get in trouble for posting in the wrong spot!! My son and I have had several RC Cars over the years but we have always gone with the RTR models. I decided to go with a kit on this one and am very happy with the end result! Re: Axial SCX10 G6 Build A quick and easy mod to lower the battery is trim those plastic spacers that hold up the battery tray until the tray rests on top of the receiver box. This lowers the weight of the battery and allows the body to sit lower. There are other mods to mount the battery but trimming the spacers is the easiest and takes about 30 seconds worth of effort. Re: Axial SCX10 G6 Build Looking good. Appreciate it because I'm building the same kit. When upgrading parts from what comes in the kit (aluminum chubs, knuckles, CVD's, lockers, shock hoops....) I've had to make some changes on the fly, mostly to hardware being used, but it's coming together nicely. Looks like you've already installed and removed the cross brace in front of the servo horn. I had problems with it too. I fabricated something out of flat stock brass and am just waiting for it to be finished at the powder coating shop. I'll post pics in my "trouble with..." thread and can put a link here if you're interested. Thanks for the chopping down the posts tip, svt923. The brace I made required me to chop down the front one substantially but now that you mention it, I could probably chop the two rear ones and eliminate the front one altogether. "thumbsup" |

Also, the front brace hit my steering servo horn so I took it out all together and secured the battery try to the top of the receiver box. There is an extra hole in the tray. I drilled a small pilot hole thru the hole and into the receiver box so I could secure the tray that way instead of from the front. Re: Axial SCX10 G6 Build http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...39037730b4.jpg After doing a little research on the receiver the hobby shop sold me I decided to return it and go with this Castle Sidewinder SV3. The main reason I went with this was because it is waterproof and has a drag brake. The Traxxas XL5 is waterproof but has zero drag brake. As it turns out the SV3 only has up to a 40% drag brake and I'm not exited about that. The Axial AE-5 is not only waterproof but also has 100% drake brake making it possible to hold you at a complete stop when not on the throttle. My sons SCX10 is much easier to control on hills and rocks because of his AE-5 ESC! |

Axial SCX10 G6 Build After getting to this point there were a couple things I didn't like and wanted to modify. The first issue is that the body sets too high because it hits the top of the transmission. Axial SCX10 G6 Build You will also notice in one of the pictures the dry wall tape and shoegoo! This is a trick we have been using on the Traxxas Slash short course bodies for about a year. I noticed that the weak points on this body are right behind the rear body posts. By putting on drywall tape and shoegoo you can keep the body from cracking in the weak areas. |

I am planning on doing lights in the light bar as well but didn't want to have a bunch of wires attached to the body. |

They are definitely a little softer and better than the factory tires but probably not the best place to spend a $100 |
Axial SCX10 G6 Build https://vimeo.com/110546310 This glass is setting at a 57 degree incline. The stock tires climbed it at 55 degrees but my sons will climb this same 57 degree incline with stock tires. Might have something to do with his Tekin T35 motor being so smooth! |
