Default stripping those tiny hex bolts...vent session

I'm sure this has been brought up before...just wanted to vent a little.

What's up with these hex bolts? (in this case, the ones on the redcat rs10 beadlocks). Are we once again falling victim to the onslaught of cheap, loose tolerance, Chinese manufactured junk (and their non justified ever increasing prices)? I mean, are these things manufactured out of lead? Despite the fact that I'm using the correct wrench, they're stripping. Stripping. Stripping. And, on beadlocks, it's even more frustrating.

I know, it's a redcat. But I've had this problem with other higher end vehicles too.

How about a change of design, people? Maybe increase the price of these trucks a dollar or two, and use bolts that actually work? We, the consumers will happily pay it, in this case...

While I'm at it, I gotta vent about these high priced lexan bodies. Recently bought a proline jeep rubicon for my son's redcat. 45 bucks, for plastic. And, in all the years of manufacturing, these engineers haven't figured out how to manufacture these things with convenient perforations on the cut lines? Primitive manufacturing, at its best.

Ok, vent session over...gotta get back to these beadlocks...only have like 200 more bolts to go.

The next question is, what tools are you using?

The reason I ask is this the brand of the hex drivers you are using could very likely be the reasoning behind you stripping the hardware. I've found a good quality hex driver can remove even the cheapest hex hardware versus that of a cheaper driver.

Although it may feel like it fit, the tolerances on a low quality driver can often mean the different between stripping or removing.

Had to laugh.

"Gotta pay to play." That's a long forgotten sentence these days.

While I agree they are weak, not only the material but also the size of them. A higher end tool helps but also realizing they're so weak and small, try to not apply so much torque to them. Squeezing the beadlocks together and then tightening rather than relying on the screw to pull the rings down while also tightening has been the ticket for me.

Lower end tools made out of cheaper materials wear faster as well. So even if tolerances were tight, if the tool is worn it won't do much good

Ding,ding,ding,ding,ding,ding,ding!

I've lost quite a few brand new screws to a worn driver.

But if you're still fed up with hex heads, and want something a little more positive,

Torx screws

Come on folks- we all need to agree with the OP!!
NO MORE .050" hardware.
Too small to hold up!
You need a veeeery high quality tool to keep the stripping to a min- but they still let go sometimes.
Stop the madness-
I have a Losi Night Crawler. Stock beadlocks- .050". I picked up "high quality" Bondhus tools.
Tool rounded out along with a few screws before I got to the third wheel...

Enough! Stop the madness lol-

No biggie.
