| Wraith short universal and scx10 axle
Some people upgrade their scx10 axles with pieces (C, knucles and universals) from Xr10 axles. If you want to preserve the standard width of the scx10 axle you have to cut the Xr10 shafts. I wonder if the Wraith short universal has the right lenght to be put in a modded scx10 axle. I checked the Axial manuals and I'm afraid it is a bit too short. Can somebody confirm it with on the field measurement ? Thank you Filippo |

No need to measure...it's way too short.

Only way I know of that doesn't require cutting is to buy seperately the parts from either VP or STRC for SCX10 inner shafts & Wraith stub shafts & cross pin/collars. VP part # Wraith stub shafts Wraith / XR10 VVD V1-HD Stub Shaft - Vanquish Products Wraith VVD kits Wraith / XR10 VVD Rebuild Kit - Vanquish Products & finally SCX10 axle shafts SCX10 VVD HD Axle Shaft - Vanquish Products STRC part # Wraith stub shafts STRC Replacement Heat Treated Carbon Steel Axles (1 pair) for STA30780 Wraith joint & pins STRC Replacement Joints, pins and aluminum sleeves for STA30780 (Silver) SCX10 axles STRC Replacement Heat Treated Carbon Steel Universal Bones (1 pair) STA30464 Last edited by altd896; 01-18-2016 at 06:41 PM. |

Anyway it seems to me an overcomplicated and too expensive solution.

If you have the tools, time & patience you can actually get more steering angle from the Axial uni shafts as well.

It's not a huge deal to shorten the XR shafts if you ask me. For me it's way more work drilling/tapping 4 extra C-hub bolts as well as other attachment bolts between the housing halves and the beef tubes. Maybe I'm abusive, but 2 c-hub bolts per side won't stay tight for long. I typically take a file and essentially extend the currently existing flat spots an additional 11mm. I use a vernier caliper to ensure parallelism and correct width for the tangs. It's kinda scary how easily the Axial shaft files away. It takes maybe 15 minutes per side going slow and checking often. I've never had Vanquish joints in my hands. Are they really more limited operating angle than a stock Axial universal BEFORE binding, or any clearancing? Even the "narrow" XR mod adds about 6mm per side from the longer stub shafts/8* kingpin inclination on the knuckles/C-hubs. |

BmachineRC does a "true width" XR mod, for the scx.. No additional width added. It turns out great and has held up to the abuse of a 3300kv HH Trailmaster Pro on 4s, for over a year! Give them a look, in the vendor section! Search "repair tubes" |
