mattzilla?
 

so i snatched this up on ebay, it was listed as a mattzilla chassis. Looking at the work and comparing it to current mattzilla chassis im not sure it really is. What makes me curious though is somebody drilled out and tapped some flat bar on each end, so some kind of skill was to be had. This thing is sturdy and well built but im wondering if anybody recognizes it and can point me to a build thread or some pictures of when it was a finished project.

Yeah I don't think that's Lue's work. I run his Facebook pages and Instagram for the last 3 years so pretty familiar to his work.

i figured that much, it doesnt flow like his does. I though maybe it could be something early that he didnt nail down a style yet. Im still happy with it, would just like to get an idea of what a previous owner did to get it together.

big break in the case fellas. When looking at the wreckluse i notice my has alot of slightly different things. Like the door bars are kind of a Y and it has brackets that none of the others have....

I kept digging through google for RCC threads and found this

This guy says it IS a mattzilla. His brackets look a little different butthey are all in the same place, with the same half skid. I contacted the ebay seller about what it was and he said it was a mattzilla, i thought he was just trying to get one over on me but finding that thread changes everything.

I wrote a kind of wreckluse, cus it does not look exactly like it, but awfully close. If Lue buildt this, he had to have been extremely inspired by the wreckluse

Very possible that it could be a Mattzilla. He's been at it for a long time and I've seen varying design styles from him. You could always ask Mattzilla if he remembers it he might even have pictures from the build progress. He did with a old Bronco chassis I had last year.

there is no doubt in my mind it is a mattzilla. I found very old youtube videos of him messing around with the same chassis (not this exact one). Plus the build threads that i have found saying they are using a mattzilla chassis and it has the same tabs and everything as mine has. In the thread i linked above it was mentioned this chassis and the wreckluse look about the same.

there were more than a few psc bruiser/petunia looking rigs built before rcp and rc4wd banged out the wreckluse and timberwolf. not trying to argue but it could be this rig pre-dates those.
