Default What Types of Crawlers is Everyone Running?

Personally been crawling with Clods and a couple of stampede 4x4's in the past but what else do you run?

Is articulation the key to success in crawling? Sometimes!

I run a modded Juggy and ocassionally my Stampede. And yes I think articulation is the key but skill in driving and stability is also a big contributor.

Jeez Tom are you following me now? Thought that was my Job :P

Jeros
Pedes
Bruisers
A nitro MT then wild willy2 (yowza)
Tl-01

Bout it, I do not think articulation is the key to crawling-it's driving skill. Anybody can build a rig that will go 90 degrees plus but it's the guys that can drive them that win the compitions.

I crawl with my maxx, I don't think I would like a clod or txt more since I have the same amount of articulation.

i crawl with my xtm xfactor..
goes great.. lots of articulation..vertical

but too much articualtion can be bad.. and the ke to sucess is really the centre of gravity..mines a litlte too high atm..trying to figur eout a way to lower it..but it can be done with clods..lower the more stable..

Jon not following you LOL

Was told to come over by TXTMisery as well Clods and Crawlers are my love and I guess in some cases life J/K

But seriously, Xfactor is good truck I admit when I played with one recently I noticed some ideas that may make it better for crawling

I usually do Clods for Crawling, I find that a truck with an unstable 90 degree Pattern will not crawl as well as a Stable solid 70 degree travel pattern.

Using shorter shocks has helped in most cases with link mounted shocks at a 45 degree angle as well as a decent 4 link or 3 link set up.

I'm running a totally custom x factor, with a 16.5 inch wheel base, one speed trans, four wheel steering, and all the other good stuff...

im in the process of making my crawler from an Emaxx. yes articulation is somewhat key to it ,but mainly its drivers skill..just like the Toyota i wheel, you can build the baddest truck there is,but if you don't have the knowledge, then your not gonna do to well...but for the articulation as mentioned,it does help, but too much can hurt ya also..

but after i get more knowledge on building a crawler from this emaxx ( just got into RCs') i will head towards a TXT-1 next

I personally crawl with an 80 Chevy Blazer, but that became a mud Racer
when we got it too high in the air and way too much power for crawling.

Now I may be working on a Sub Mutant Jeep Cherokee 2 door with possibly either a small block chevy or a 4.3 liter vortec motor.

Don't yet if we will do it or not, I may stick to mud draging and racing as here we have more mud than rocks...LOL

Articulation I agree is a good thing in moderation, but if the suspension does not flow smoothly but gets mass travel aren't you defeating the purpose of Geometry?

A question to ponder
