| Where can I buy scale accessories?
I am looking to buy some scale accessories for my 1/6. I just mounted my spare tire and now I want a few more things. I am looking for a scale fire extinguisher, shovel and maybe some sort of ax or something. Any other things you think would look good on the crawler, let me know! Please send me some links of where I can buy these scale accessories! Thanks

I use scale items for my traine setups. any traine shoppe will have many scale items on hand at any given time. fire extinguishers, wheelbarrows, various tools, jerry cans, hydraulic lifts, and axle stands. Last week I found a pup tent with campfire set and then walked over to LGB diesel engines and they had a mock tire change with a hydraulic lift, jack stands and little tiny oil drain pan..

Thanks guys! For small little things, some of them are pricey. My LHS has a huge train section, I'll check it out tomorrow and see what I can find. Will they know what scale each item is? How will I attach everything?

any halfway decent trainshoppe/LHS should have extensive knowledge of the products they sell. If they can't answer a simple question about scale sizes I would leave post-haste. Good luck in finding what you need, I duobt you will find that nifty roofrack or sixpack at a traine shoppe but maybe. I have a igloo cooler I found a couple years ago with a small coke bottle six pack.

I am not really interested in the roof rack anyway. Besides its around $60. I am really looking for a fire extinguisher and some tools. What are some tools that are associated with crawlers?

Wow! That's all I can say about that site Jason. Thank you. What other accessories relate to a crawler? I am getting a shovel and fire extinguisher so far. Was also thinking of some type of rope. Any other ideas? Let me know! |

GI Joe stuff seems to be "alomst" the right size........ Except the guys themselves, they seem to be about 7' tall ATLEAST, if they were "real" guys driving 1:1

I think GI Joe is "supposed" to be roughly 1:6 scale. A lot of soldiers are big boys, so maybe 7' isn't all that unreasonable. The true scale of GI Joe over the years may have also deviated a bit from true 1:6 scale. Here's a Wikipedia article on 1:6 scale modeling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1:6_scale Of course we know, if it's on the internet, it must be true. Interestingly, the Wikipedia article mentions that 1:6 scale is often called "playscale", and that search engines often accept that term better than one with punctuation (like 1/6 or 1:6). Indeed, if you Google "playscale", you get a ton of resources for a lot of different scale hobbies, like doll houses, but those can turn up useful parts for us, like coolers, picnic baskets, sleeping bags (to tie on the Jeep), etc. Last edited by JasonA; 01-31-2007 at 08:00 AM. |

I don't know about GI's all being 7' or more tall............. although they (GI Joes) fit that way in the 1:6 as do their gear, I'm former Special Forces and only 5'9" when I was 18, average size of ALL the guys in my unit. My Daughter is 5'3" and in Iraq as a Combat Medic......no 7' + tall guys there! |

I didn't say ALL GIs were 7' or more tall, which would be false, as you say. All I said was that a lot of soldiers are big boys, which is a true statement. At Fort Bragg (82d Airborne and 18th FA), there are a lot of big dudes here.
