Default Fab Tabs: How much is your time worth?

How much is your time worth when building a custom buggy or scaler. Maybe you're just building for yourself or your gonna have your hand at making some money doing it for others. One of the most tedious parts to make due to their size have always been specialty tabs for mounting links, shocks, or other items that need brackets. We have started offering Fab Tabs to take the headache out of your next project.
We are offering 3 differ styles of Fab Tabs. All the tabs have a small hole tat can either be drilled oversize or simply tapped to 3mm. This helps with eliminating the need for a nut and makes positioning a breeze. The captured style is made to slide over 3/16" diameter material giving you 360* of weld surface for ultimate strength or for those tight spots that are hard to get a weld on. They are perfect for upper shock mounts and especially for mounting light bars on tube chassis.

"Long" style dimensions:
.562" overall length
.355" wide at the base
.437" from base to hole centerline

"90*" style dimensions:
.370" wide on the short sides
.520" wide on the long side

"Captured" style dimensions:
.625" overall length
.375" hole center line separation

These are available for purchase from our online store at www.carterfabmachine.com in the accessories section. There is a link in my sig to the site.
There are also coupon codes listed in the description on the site of each tab for quantity discounts.
Would also be interested to see these in use on your next projects.

Awesome, we builders need more of this stuff!

I see all the "tabs" listed for $1.25. Does the $1.25 get me one single tab or one "chain" of 10 tabs?

One tab but there are the codes in the item description for quantity discount. I priced around a couple shops and I honestly am not doing this for profit, just helping others out who love fabricating. Ibises them extensively on the build I'm doing now, as well as http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/2-2-s...m-one-cfm.html.
They cut down fab time by hours when doing a full build. No more measuring or guess work. Here's a couple pics of how I'm using them right now.
"90*" for cage gusset or body panel mounts

"Long" for light and cage mounts

We made the long style so you can trim them down to desired length or bend them to fit your needs. All are .062" A36 steel.

Fab tabs are certainly useful. It beats fabricating them yourself, that's for sure. I always imagined them being less expensive to have cut though. Either way, they are worth the money for us but, it sounds like it could be more worth it for you. $1.25ea and not much profit?

I have about 18 tabs on my rig, that's quite a few so.. Lets say $20-$30 to do a complete rig. That's not really a lot of money for the convenience. Good work.

Seriously thought they would be cheaper also. I could probably source them out somewhere else not local and get the cost down a little, but I prefer to keep money local and also like the option of being able to visit and be hands on with product I use and sale. Makes things easier and always guaranteed the parts are right.
They are that price up to 10 units, then there is a price break for 11-20, and another price break at 21- and up.

I also thought the same just for personal use and then thought about time to make the tabs, especially the captured style, and have them all exactly the same. You could easily spend a couple hours messing with tab fab that would cost a builder anywhere from $30-$60 depending on their rate.
After using them the last 2 days on the current build, http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-9-s...enior-cfm.html, I will never make them individually again. Breezed through the process and constantly finding new ways to use them and different purposes.

Clay, are these tabs braze-able? I don't have welding capability YET.

$1.25? That's not bad at all! Especially with a bulk discount. Several options keep up the good work!

You can even drill it out for 1/4" tube and have clearance.
