Default Car Hauler - How Does Your Ride Ride?

I work on the road and I get bored at night. That's partly why I jumped into this hobby so fast and also why I'm all posty on here a lot... aside from having a ridiculously flatulent cranium which provides me with an endless supply of brain farts. Sorry folks.

Anyways, ideally I will have a project or two to work on during the week. Since I sometimes end up in places near parks or other areas with trails or crawling opportunities, I'll get to do some driving too.

I bought this Husky toolbox for $30 bucks or so and it's a nice travel kit for my Honcho and tackle. I'm obviously limited on space and depending on the project I may or may not bring the whole car. What do you guys use when you travel with your RC vehicles? I've searched around on here a bit and saw some ideas for air travels and such (one guy had a killer flight case), but I was wondering what you guys had for domestic travel or if anyone else had any kind of mobile work stations etc. What do you take when you go to events?

Not much else to see. Here it is closed up. It has a pull-out handle. Just a basic roller toolbox from the big orange store.

The lid has 2 compartments. It's limited on tool space with a car in the main box. If I need more tools to work on parts during the week I might leave the car at home... But I do prefer to explore with it. I also want to figure out a tray to fit over the car. I can bend one out of sheet metal if I need to then I can but some compartmentalized plastic bins in there.

Opened up. This pic is kind of walleyed. With the dual wheels it's a tight fit. I'm tweaking that. With the standard 4 wheels it sits snug in the bottom with no front to back movement and some space on the sides.

I love that. I need that for hiking. The main reason for the hard box I have is so I can throw it in the work truck and stack stuff on it and just keep it safe from heavy stuff in general. I do need a back pack for trudging through the wood. That's the other reason I got into this hobby. It can be a sport and I'm a tree hugging nature nerd.

I don't drive. So I use what I can carry on my back. After shoving a 1/10 summit in there it gets heavy but easier to carry out that way than with it in hand

I like to use Klein Tools canvas bags for tools and small parts. It's nice to have them color coded and they are strong. been keeping drill bits, allens, misc sockets in them for years now. I was using an old cooler to keep the rig in while driving around. it stayed protected from the elements and the other crap that is in the bed of the truck. But your idea beats the hell out of an old cooler. lol
Now when we load up the trucks they just sit in the back of the FJC and bounce around.

I use the linen closet in my Fifthwheel rv as my hauler and the dresser top as my work bench. I usually bring 7-10 rigs when we go camping but that includes both my daughters rigs. I always have a good supply of spares and tools too for quick fixed and tuning. Usually always have a few SCT trucks, a monster truck, a couple of buggies and 2-4 crawlers depending on where we are going.

I also have a pelican case that can fit one crawler, basic tools, batteries and charger for my trips when I fly out, it’s only 22x16x12.

Sounds like you've got it going on here. It's great to hear people going all over the place with their crawlers. It has definitely made me want to explore even more than I already did.

I throw my toolbox and trucks in the bed of the truck and keep the transmitters in the cab with me. bed cover is about 90% water tight. so far no issues.

either the trunk of my FRS, or the cargo area of my wife's grand Cherokee.
i don't have a fancy case, box, bag... just plop the trucks in and go.

I've been wanting a "trail pack" aka fanny pack for basic tools, spare parts/screws, first aid (i carry a rattlesnake kit with me always). i need to get a new bladder for my camelback. i am notorious for dehydrating myself. i digress...

my junk goes in the trunk. lol

My TRX4/ Stampede/ EMS16 reside in the back of my 4runner if going to the local park or easily accessible places. If going beyond the pavement then my Jeep JK is my go to transporter. I usually take a small toolbox with xtra parts, tires, tools etc, then minimize that to just basics ( body clips, wheel nuts, 2.5mm hex, etc) into my camera bag and start walkin'.
